I was talking to one of the dealers who's trying to locate a truck for me, and they told me they need to order trucks anyway, so they would put my name on one equipped exactly the way I want it. If I buy it fine, if not, no foul. I had a hard time saying no to that.

It seems like there's quite a few 2500s around here that would work for me, but the 3500 SRWs are very few and far between.

I can't figure out why they don't stock 3500 SRWs. The window sticker will have your name on it. You'll have to buy it :)

Unless I find one before it comes in. I really don't want to wait that long.

3500 SRWs aren't that uncommon in this area. Now try to find any of them, S or D RWs that have a stick shift. I looked at close to 30 and found only two of them that had it. I ended up ordering mine. Good luck with your search. You will love this truck.

joel, give a call out to carson dodge, in carson city,nv. the fleet mgr is joel. they usually have alot of trucks. i live in so cal and was ready to fly up there and pick one up when my local guy found my truck in vegas and had it shipped for me. the number is 888 883-2028. good luck, mike

There are several 3500's in Oregon, if you want to deal with the guys that have them... ... ... ... . In your case, it wouldnt be so bad as you wouldnt have to deal with getting them to service them later down the road. I had the nerve to give a not so good rating on the 5star card when the servicing dealer scratched my tailgate. After that, I was told that they would not service my truck. I say that is BS. They seem to have the right to pick and choose who they want to deal with and Chrysler wont step in and push the issue. Makes me glad that my wife will be taking a job back in California soon and I will have my HO 305 hp with NO CALIF EMISSIONS and it will be legal since it will have 7500 miles on it! I will be enjoying the non Calif truck in Calif with no emissions and it will be LEGAL!:D  :p :p Oo. Did I also mention that I wont have to pay Arnold his 8% sales tax? Thats right, Ive owned it long enough to beat the Calif system and I love it!Oo. Oo.

PB, are you talking about new 3500s? If so, they would have to have the CA certification, or whatever the code is. FWIW, I wouldn't have any problems going to Oregon to pick one up, and a 305 hp, even used, would be fine by me. Problem I've seen in looking at the used market is the prices are simply are too high when compared to the prices the new rigs are going for.

You're luckey to have bought legally in Oregon. I don't really have that option, and I'm not willing to do anything questionable when there's that much money at stake. I'm sure there's tax folks working for Arnold trying to justify their existence.

JCool, you can buy legally in Oregon. I just did. I got it registered and as much as it irritated me I paid the CA sales tax like a good little citizen.

The code is:

YCF - Emissions - Border States (Calif)

You never know. Some Oregon dealers may have ordered em. That sticker doesn't cost the dealer anything. A smart Oregon dealer would order all his trucks like that and advertise like crazy in California. But judging from some of these posts "smart dealer" is an oxymoron.
