Just picked up a new 06 G-56 3500 SRW LWB. Went on a 90 mile Round trip. Fueled up at the same station, same pump both ways. Exactly 90 miles on 4. 02 Gallons. Looks to be about 22MPG???? Kept i7 around 65 MPH (2000 RPM) with cruise. FLat hwy. Only 350 miles on the ticker! I am impressed. Shifts very soft and smooth when on the road but gets kind of sticky in Stop and go. Will add another qt of ATF +4 tomorrow!!

Sounds about right. I have the QC SRW LWB 2500 4X4 6 speed and if I keep it around 60 to 65 on flat roads with NO WIND, then I will see 21/22 mpg. That is per the overhead.

I live in OH and the G56 seems alittle stiff in the cold until it gets warmed up.

Those are impressive numbers for a new truck. I'm getting around 21 around town (easy commute) with ULSF and was getting 20 MPG on the old fuel. When the truck was new, I was getting 17-18 MPG. I like the way your truck is equipped. I wish that I had gotten the 2WD.

How you guys get 21 -22 MPG. I only average 16 mpg mostly highway driving and I kept the speed @ 65 MPH sometime 55 MPH... .

I've only managed a best of 16. 8 w/smarty set on 6 and trying my best to drive like a grandma, sometimes that don't work out though.

Was the tank topped off where you saw fuel at the neck?? I have a hard time believing that? But great

Hand calculations only. B100. First 3 tanks strictly following Cummins initial break-in call-out,handy Pacific NW mountains,16. 7-16. 9. Spray-in bed liner soon then 3000# of minus 3/4 river rock and repeat step 1. New mileage is what it is. Proper break-in is everthing.

good mpg

roperteacher, congrats on the new truck! With my 06 I have always seen good milage I really think its all in the right foot. I have almost 14,000 on mine and believe it is about broke in, I have about 3300 miles towing my travel trailer. I have hand calculated every tank my unloaded average is 18. 3 with my highest being 22. 43. With the low gears in our 6speeds its about not trying to drive 75 or 80 mph.

If I keep my 06 2500 srw under 70 I average 20-21 hand calculated, empty, it's all stock. The lowest mileage empty I get is 17 and that is around 80mph. Seeing 22 isn't impossible from one small fillup. If you short fill it by a little, it will improve your mileage greatly.

My 05 gets about 18 around town with >20 highway empty. Pulling my 11,500# fifth wheel on the open road I get 13. Then there is our 06 Jeep Liberty CRD, 16 mpg. My truck gets better!! Can't explain it but I like my truck.

on my highest tank(22. 43) I had driven 424. 1 miles before filling it back up it was not just a short trip to see what I could get.

My feelings are (in my type driving) the Automatic cost around 2mpg, and the 4wd cost around another 2mpg. I regulary see over 650 miles without the fuel light coming on.

If it sounds too good to be true.....

I would suggest that if you believe your overhead, then Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are also real. I think it very easy to have a variance of 1 or two gallons on a fill. Little thinks like pitch of the driveway in front of the pump, sensitivity of a pump's auto shut off, amount of foam in a particular fill will all make a difference. To get some idea of your actual milage I think you need to look at the numbers over 900 miles, not over 90.

My 06 does significantly better than my 05. My 05 was an auto my 06 a G56, thats about the only significant difference. There is a 4 mpg difference between the two... . do ya think cummins figured something out between 05 and 06? I am beginning to wonder.

Congrats on the new truck roperteacher :)

Gotta tell ya though, using the cruise and going an easy 65 is not a good way to break it in especially the first 2-300 miles. Leave the cruise off and vary speed, and don't idle more than 5 minutes. . . I would run the RPM up & down at long lights the first week I had my '03.

The '03 was a shortbed 4x2 and I got around 15 on the first 2 tanks because of my break-in driving, but climbed to low 20s after about 3000 miles.

i get about 13mpg. how bad do 35" tires hurt. 400 mile tanks are getting old.

yes, im adjusting milage for the tire size.

I'm with you... My new 06 has never gotten better than 16. xx MPG driven almost exclusively I-90 at 70 MPH and 2K RPM using cruise. It has just under 5K miles.
