Had a strange weekend, thought I would share...

Went to northern MI with my son and a friend of mine to meet my brother-inlaw, his cousin and kids to snowmobile for the weekend. .

About 1pm Saturday afternoon, my son and I are running through a field of fresh snow and his a log and the sled shot up into the air. Threw my son off the back and he landed face first in the snow. When I looked back, all I saw was the empty sled my nephew had been riding (he had hit the same bump and got thrown as well) run over my son...

We got him to a local store about 1/2 mile away and within minutes had several EMTs and two ambulances there on the scene. He spent two + hours on a back board and overnight in the hospital. Came out with a broken collar bone and first rib and a bruised lung... .

So you think that would be bad enough right... but wait there is more. .

On Sunday we got back to camp from the hospital and I took my truck and trailer to go and pick up my sleds where I left them the day before. . On the way there, I hit a patch of ice and slid off a road and into a tree. . Only going 25-30mph. barely any impact it seemed, but the tree was only about 9" in diameter and acted like a knife. It hit the passenger side front suspension and moved that tire back to the 3500 logo... Has to be over $10k in damage easy.

Had to walk several miles to get help, and ended up getting the truck towed away...

My wife's cousin loaned me his truck to pull my trailer home and get my son home. About 20 miles from home Sunday night we hit a large deer. . Fortunately the truck was drivable, but probably caused several thousand $$ in cosmetic damage. .

We finally got home and I don't really feel like driving for some reason. .

they say bad things come in threes... I hope I am done for a while. .

Time to buy a loto ticket, you've got to have some good luck coming your way after all that.

Hope your son is feeling better. . ROB

Brian,

I am grateful, most of all, that your son is recovering and should be well?!
I am sorry for your troubles with the ice and indigenous fauna... that bites.

My prayers, beyond your son's recovery, will be that the rest of your 2007 is significantly better!!

Take care,

Mark

WOW sounds like you need to take a vacation somewhere that doesnt allow motorized vehicles.

sorry to hear about you bad luck my prayers are with you and your family.

be safe.

thanks for all the well wishes... Will be interesting to see what the insurance company has to say about fixing the truck. .

Bryan

Wow, you know how to have a big weekend in MI. Any more fun and you might end up buried here.

Hope your son heals quickly and the insurance company treats you fairly.

I agree, buy Lotto ticket!!

Where did you go in northern MI? I used to live in the Gwinn/Marquette area and all I can say is I miss those winters:eek:

We were in Millersburg area which is about 30 miles east of Gaylord. My BIL has 85 acres of hunting property with a cabin that is adjacent to the snowmobile trails. .

We also go to the Brimley area where my wife's family has a cabin in the national forest.

Wow. Snapped that control arm, Pitman Arm, and sway bar link like twigs! Looks like there is some serious pressure on that spring too. Total? Good thing you took pics for insurance.

I second Mark comments and hope for a speedy and complete recovery for you son. I'm not too impressed with the truck taking that much damage. Good luck with your insurance.
