 Ok so I am a klutz, we all knew that. So the sensor that is by the air filter, Anyone know what it is? I broke mine and need to replace it but have no manual or clue what it is. The sensor's location was moved from teh factor air box to the air dam that came with the K&N set up that im put in my truck. I am thinking it is a temperature sensor... ... .

Thanks

Fred

There is a general opinion that the K&N setup is detrimental to your truck. This incident should serve to support that idea.

K&N... ... #@$%! Should have seen the valve stem guides in the last 12 valve i pulled apart! I bought it used, it blew a little blue smoke, and after a few weeks, it got really bad. Found a bottle of Bardahl's No smoke behind the seat... ... hmmmmm, I knew they weren't that great, but wow, that was a worst case scenario... ...

Anyway, yeah, the sensor is the airflow sensor, and some trucks won't start unless it's plugged in, and then trigger the CEL. Dealer item, I think. Orielly's couldn't get them. I think it ran around $65 wholesale.

In 2003-2004 - it's an IAT/MAP sensor only. There is no MAF sensor on those trucks.

Ok Ryan, school me... . :D, I have(03)what I believe is a MAP sensor in my intake manifold(TST R37 connected to it), and a IAT in my intake tube? Not understanding what you mean?

You're right, I'm wrong. The one in the manifold is combination manifold temp and MAP, whereas the one on the filter box is combination IAT and ambient pressure.

Well it seems that I have broken an IAT sensor. I will get another one as soon as I can. The next question would be concerning the K&N air filter. These are all I knew about when I bought it so I thought i was stuck with it. Is there another filter that will fit the tube and do a better job than the K&N. Thanks

Iv'e learned an awful lot of information from your post's in the past, I appreciate and take advantage of your knowledge, so a slight mistake is nothing.

I confuse myself more often than not, always good to have your input, Thanks.
