I had a free oil and filter change for the Ghost Rider today at Dishman Dodge. I went and asked Butch if I could take a new 600 Auto for a test drive. He was more than happy to set me up in a 04. 5 2500 SLT 600 auto with 373's. I have read several post about low or no power. They certainly were not driving the truck I did today! The 600 had every bit as much get and go as the Ghost Rider, 04, 305 HP. It might of even had a little more! The only real difference that I noticed was that the 600 you could hear the turbo and exhaust a little more.

Anyone that is getting a 600 should be extremely happy if it runs like the one I drove today! Of course I only put about 15 miles on it, however, I could not find anything to complain about!

:D

Very glad to hear that!

We haven't seen one here in Maine so I ordered mine sight unseen (and un- test driven. ) Can't wait. Thanks for the report!

I've already talked to the Shop Mgr here (good guy) and told him when the truck gets in NOBODY is to test drive it except me! Don't want those kids in the shop breaking in (literally) my truck. I'll probably be the first 600 around here.....

Oo.

Ohale when did you order your truck? I would be interested in checking it out as I ordered one sight unseen also. Hope is as good as big bob says. Mine has been sitting in kz status since 3/17. Should be in westbrook sometime in april.

Ordered mine Monday 3-22-04, so you should get yours long before mine. My dealer said 2-3 months! At least he was being honest. From what I've read here lately the wait appears to be decreasing... ...

BTW, how are you tracking your truck? I hope to get a VIN for mine fairly soon.....

Congrats on your order!:)

I'm about halfway between Wiscasset and Dresden.

We three could form the "600 Club" but I think that title is already in use;) !

I bought mine at Newcastle Dodge mostly because they have an excellent shop. I also got what I think was a great deal. The Shop Manager is a complete diesel afficionado (like me). He had his diesel bombed with a Banks Six Pack and the work was done right there at the shop.

Maybe we should start a rally?

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and it came in today. Just called my dealer and told him to put a few gallons in it because I want to drive it out on the highway. If it has that hesitation I told them to reflash before I'd pick it up. No money till it's right!

OT-OF-HERE!!,

3 weeks, outstanding:D !

My excitement meter just ramped up 50%. I'm out here in Maine so maybe I'll add a couple of weeks to your 3.

Wouldn't you know I just bought an airline ticket to fly to Virginia in May for some training because I didn't think me truck would be here in time... . who knows?

Thank you very much for the info!!!

I just got back from the dealership and drove the 600 for 54 miles mixed city/hiway. Here's what I found: My new truck has two of the three problems,... . kinda... . that I have read on the posts. One of mine is a little different. 1st, it is super flat from a stop. I have a good friend with the 305 and his is quicker to spool. His is stock. His is pulling strong by the time it gets to 7 or 8mph. The 600 pulled strong at 15mph. That's a bit too much of a lag,... I think. Does anyone know if the reflash will help that? My 600 doesn't have the hesitation at 2100 rpm like many of the posts indicated. No lag or hesitation at the 2100 rpm threshhold. In fact I'd say that the 600 pulls definitely stronger than the 305 from especially 30mph and up. I ran it for a short burst up to just over 90 and it pulled strong all the way. I then backed off and brought it back down to 65mph to 70 ,... . in that almost 2k and up to 2100 rpm and I definitely have the vibration. It's not gonna spill your coffee or anything but I'd say at trip speed it would be a pain. What's unique about this vibration is it is as much sound as it is vibration which leads me to think that as some other members have stated previously,... it may be exhaust related and as we know the exhaust is brand new for this 600. Another factor on this vibration is that you feel it in the seat,. . not the steering!. One thing I tried that baffled me was that I was pulling a really steep hill that's about a mile long and I dropped it in 2nd and brought it to that 2k to 2100 vibration/sound zone and NOTHING! It may be because it doesn't lug as much in 2nd I guess. I didn't have the other kind of vibration due to the powersteering hose on the steering column that I've read about. Also I didn't have the right pull that many guys have talked about. The autometer showed 15. 4mpg on my little trek. No chance to pencil it out on a 54 mile trek. Bottom line,... has anyone gotten this vibration thing fixed? If so,... what was it??? I'm not as concerned about the lack of pop from the line as I intend to bomb after I'm sure that everything is ok for warranty purposes. Tks for the help.
