I'm way overdo for a clutch but I'm not going to pay another jack wagon to do a half (*****) clutch job so I've decided to do it myself. My problem is that I need a transmission jack. I hate to admit but I've been eye balling the harbor freight model(s).

None of my auto parts dealers have one to lend or rent and I can't justify buying the $1000 dollar model.

Anyone have any luck with the cheaper transmission jacks?

Nothing wrong with the Harbor Freight tran's jack. If you were going to use it everyday for a living then yes get the spendy one.

harbor freight is great for stuff like that..... one time use stuff, or little time use stuff..... no need to pay big bucks, for something you will never use again... ... and some of there stuff even last a while.....

i used a 800lb harbor freight transmission jack to pull my nv5600. since then, i bought the 2000lb version and have used it on several eaton 18 speeds. it's not top of the line, but you sure have to admit the value.

The 2k lb'er is the one that caught my eye. I'm hoping to buy a new truck later this year but I'm keeping my 04. 5. I might,... ... ... use this transmission jack one, maybe two more times.

That 2k lb jack was one sale not that long ago. Add in %20 of cuuupin and that jack was relatively cheap.

Try your local rental store (if you have one). Transmission jacks are a common rental item, and are usually better quality than a cheap "offshored" copy.

If you buy from Harbor Freight, be sure to pick up some jack oil also... I have one of their bottle jacks, it works great since I filled it with oil... .
