Well guys, I finally figured out what was going on with my gauges in my Ram. For those of you that don't know, I had my gauges intermittently "sticking" when I would accelerate of decelerate, and I also had phantom chimes and air bag/ABS lights coming on. I started to think about what I had done to the truck and when it started to occur, then I started to study the good ole wiring diagrams. Then it clicked!

I started having these issues after I installed an I-pod interface to my radio. There is a adapter box that allows the I-pod to play though the radio, and since the cord is only 8" long, I stuffed it below my radio, right next to the grounds for the instrument cluster. Whenever i had my I-pod on is when I had the problem. After I removed the I-pod adapter and everything, no more probelms. Here is my theory on this:

Mecedes uses a different theory in there electronics. The depend on the ground side for switching on most of there components. I know Chrysler has been incorpating some of there electronics, so I think I was picking up a radio interference on the ground side which was back-feeding to the cluster. Now that it is gone, no more problem!

To those with the mysterious cluster issues, I would DEFINETELY check anything you have added to the truck, and make sure you are not running it too close to any grounds or power sources. Since everything is networkedin new vehicles, all it takes is a little communication interference to ruin a good day. Good luck guys!!!
