Went to a big rig junk yard a couple of days ago, same place I purchased my EF knob. The head guy wasn't there and the guy who spoke with me didn't want to waste his time evidently!:rolleyes:

Called back this morning and spoke with the owner, he said c'mon up and look around and see what you want. Well the first cab I spied with horns I climbed right up! "YES! 24" Grover/6" bell! I want that one!" "I'm sorry we're not parting that one, go check back there":mad:

Finally found the only sole surviving horn out of the hole lot and it was another Grover!:D

$35 got me the Grover, bell end holder, and brass fittings all in one!

Where do you guys plan on mounting those things?

Where are you getting the air solenoid from?

- cost? - part number??

Thanks!

Dan

You'll love it..........

Got mine from a bone yard too.

I had mine mounted between the rails in the front but it sounded a little muffled. Not much room to spare there. Anyway I moved it to behind the bumper. If the truck was up in the air I might have been able to wriggle it in but being on the ground I had to loosen the bumper and get it in that way. Sounds way better now.

My $10 Wal-Mart compressor is now working for 4 months and going strong. Save some real money there. Anyway after the first week or so the thrill does wear down and you don't use it as often. I do remember that first week just looking for idiots to blast at. :eek: :eek:

If you need more pics I'll gladly crawl under and show you what I did.

There's a truck graveyard in Sterling, Michigan that I go past quite often and I keep telling myself "Self, you gotta stop there and pick you up a set of horns". I guess next time I get up there, I'll stop and do what you guys did :)

Big White Beast - that compressor you got. . is it the small 120v one with the one gallon tank? I have one of those that I plan to run off of a power inverter.

Doc

I need a Solenoid Valve

I'm having trouble finding a Solenoid Valve. :{

Was hoping this would be a Labor Day Project for me and dad, but with out that valve I'm back to step two (step one was just get'n the horn!:D )

Any ideas? Bigsaint told me to try Grainger, but I can't find anything that isn't over $50 on there. I know it can be had for less.

HELP!:{

Got Smoke - stop at the local auto parts and ask to look through their Grote, Cole Hersee and Peterson catalogs. I've seen some air valves and lanyards in some of those catalogs.

Doc

Hadley sells them. That is if your looking for a 12v actuated. Most 4X4 part outlets stock parts for the Hadley system. If your making your own, give it a try.

I'm not wanting a lanyard. I want a Solenoid Valve that attaches to the portable tank, and is powered by the Hot wire for the OEM horn.

Napa....

At least the main store here had one. 12volt solenoid. I did have some troubles with it once the tank reached pressure. Seemed intermitent. Anyway they replaced it but I already had one from J. C. Whitney that is made by Hadley. It's been flawless so far. Some have reported a high fail rate on them. 4 months on both trucks with no problems here.

Doc, actually it's a little tire inflator that plugs in the cigarette lighter. I took the plug off and wired it through a pressure switch mounted on the tank. Switch was $20 something from J. C. Whitney also. Got a small tank for under the fender from there too. They have all the accessories you just have to dig a little on their site.
