The guys at LineX removed my tailgate by pulling on the electrical harness until they ripped the quick disconnect connector completely off of the tailgate end of the wireing harness. Of course they claim that it was that way when they recieved it. The dealer says there is no way it could have come from Dodge like that so why should they warrienty it.

The truck is 450 miles and two weeks old.

Does anyone know exactly what make/model electrical connector Dodge uses on the tailgate end of the quick disconnect (to the light bar on the tailgate). If I could find this out I could order one from an electronics house and fix it correctly.

PS - I thought we had a spelling checking option in the old software is it gone in the new version?

I would be extremely upset with the Line-X guys. If you tell them that the lights worked when you dropped it off, I can't imagine the stones it would take for them to say they didn't do it. Put a stop payment on thier check or tell them you plan on informing the Better Business Bureau or something. A two week old truck, I mean come-on. Stuff like that really &*(*&^&% me off! I don't blame the dealer. Damn shoddy, sleazy aftermarket businesses!

Sorry,

In my haste to vent, I forgot to say that I'm sure the connector is a dealer only item. Any number of other connectors will work, but if you just want to replace the one end, I'm pretty sure you need to go to the dealer. Shouldn't cost much, but I'd make the Line-X guys pay even if it was only $1. 00! It's the principle.

from what i have seen it is hard to just get one part of a wiring harness. usually we have to buy complete harnesses and replace the whole thing b/c splicing into a master wiring harness is not a good idea.

DC buys most of their domestic wire harnesses from Yazaki. Good luck sourcing just the connectors. Your local dealer doesn't even have a parts break down past the harness.

Those Butchers at Line-X they should step up to the plate and fix it right.

I had Canopy World in Bremerton Washington do a butcher wiring job on my truck and I showed my brother, he say, "are you suprised?" I guess i should know better.

Might be a good time to bomb the wire and fix it better than stock!

I just had the hood protection shield torn off my truck in a car wash. Only had 2 of the 4 clips installed holding on shield, but the car wash mgr, who pointed out the missing clips, both outer ones were there and both inner missing, he had a stack of them all the same way. They said they shouldn't replace due to improper installation, but they got me a brand new one in like 4 days with no arguments. . LineX should definantly Step up

LineX dealer was in Charlottesville Va. Spray in liner was part of truck purchase.

Dodge dealer can sell only complete harness, not going that route.

I will procure a pair of weatherproof connectors and do both ends to ensure it's fixed correctly myself.

Just a nice way to see how the dealer and its vendor stand behind their work/service. I almost never allow anyone to work on my vehicles. I now know the new Dodge will be no different.

I did put a bunch of very similar connectors onto a CAT generator over in Bahrain a year or to ago when installing a electronic speed control, I will have to track doun the source I used (Digikey I think).

Thanks for the help, I really did not expect to be able to find that specific connector.

Thanks to everyone for the help and ideas.

As a RF/Microwave Engineer, I think I can fine a pair of similar but not exact connectors to install.

Unless someone knows the make/part number for the OEM Dodge connector we can close this thread down as completed.

Thanks again for all the rapid response, this is a most useful group of folks.
