To give a little history, I bought this 92 truck with a broken flexplate. I could not start the truck because of a dead battery and broken flexplate. I did find the cheapest place for Cummins parts is to bypass the Dodge dealer and go directly to Cummins. Thanks to this post for the info. Anyways, with the flexplate on, I was getting ready to bolt up the transmission and noticed that one locating dowel was missing. Could this be the problems to the previous problems of the flexplate breaking? This is not the reason for the post. I decided to get the engine running before installing the transmission and transfer case. After charging the battery, I turned the key and the truck started faster than I could get my hand off of the ignition switch. I idles really nice and carries good oil pressure and no knocks or odd noises. I pushed on the throttle and about 1/3 throttle, the engine will start missing and start blowing white smoke out the exhaust and will then throw a check engine light. My thoughts is a bad injector, which is shaking the engine bad enough to activate the knock sensor, if these engines have one. What are your thoughts? Maybe after getting the truck back together and driving it around, the injector may clear up. Wishful thinking? Thanks.
