STUPID, or just slow learners?

A girl I know down here at school has a 96 Chevy Corsica. She took her car in to get a new altenator, because it was going bad. When she got her car back, w/new altenator, her gauges now do not work. Gas gauge, Speedo, temp, radio, lights in the dash, pretty much everything in the dash. She said the gauges dont even twitch. Now first thought that popped into my head was a burned out fuse, but I asked her and she said they checked and said the fuse was fine(although I dont know if I neccessarily believe them) When she called them and told them what was going on, they said that if she brought it in they could fix it, for a fee of course #@$%! Now I havent checked her fuses yet, but I will do that. Do you all think that there is something they failed to connect on the altenator? Any other suggestions? She will be driving this car home for winter break here in 2 weeks, 200+miles so I would like to help get it fixed up for her. Thanks for all your help!

Sounds like a fuse or possible fusible link gone bad. Juast get out your test light and check 'em all.

Hahah shouldnt be too many of em! I dont have a test light down here, so I will just check her fuses. The quarter is winding down and I have boatload of stuff going on in the next week and a half. Hopefully its a faulty fuse, the car can live with that.

Thanks guys!

I think I'd take it back to the place that fixed it and state "the guages worked fine when I brought it in, and after you've worked on the car, they don't. Now make it right. " Perhaps threaten small claims court if they're not willing to drop the diagnostic fees, etc.

Sounds like they made a mistake and won't take credit for it.
