I just picked up a nice 2004 Crossroads Cruiser 29RK to live in for a while. It's only about 7653 dry so my truck handled it with ease dragging it from Columbus, OH to the Chattanooga, TN area where I'm working for a while. So far I'm really liking it. I do need to do some insulation work in the nose cargo area though. Anyway, just thought I would share. Pictures here. After transporting RVs for 2. 5 years its real nice to finally have my own.

Congrats on the purchase. My buddy owns one of the first Crossroads ever built and for the money it is a real nice camper. I live in a 32 foot 5th for six months and we enjoy it alot. Hard to believe that we live in this with no problem and we return to a 2100 sqr ft home for the summer and do not miss the space all winter. Thinking about going to a 42 ft coach in the near future. That will only be more problems. Rob

Congrats. What a nice 5th wheel. It has lots nice features. I wish I would have gotten the bedroom slide on mine... :{

Have fun and enjoy it.

Louis

Thanks guys. It really is in good shape. The left rear tire shows some wear on the inside so I guess I need to check the axle alignment and axle camber at some point. The carpet shows a little wear but other then that it looks real good. From what I have seen so far it looks pretty well put together with good fit and finish. I searched for days on the net and this was the only 5th wheel I could find, which wasn't real old that was in my price window and had the basic layout I was looking for so I went for it. I paid $15,495. I think I did okay as that's about what NADA says is average retail without selecting any options.

Congratulations. You certainly earned it after pulling them for 2 1/2 years. I've been there, done that. I've pulled a lot of new Crossroads trailers and liked them. They are affordable, attractive, and easy to pull.

I hope you get many years of service out of it.

Looks nearly a twin to my 1997 Avion 34 ft. We have been most impressed with the liveable space, in fact the only complaint the wife has is that it is TOO BIG! We found that the rear kitchen that she thought she needed so badly will certainly stir the stored contents and break dishes on rough roads!

Yes I had read on here about rear kitchens being shakers and it makes since but I'm not in a position to be too picky plus I'm not pulling it much so I'm not too worried about it. I also like the space provided in this type of layout. The center kitchen units I saw just didn't seem to have the same amount of room, at least in the lower end stuff without a kitchen slide. Now if I can just find some plastic dishes, all the wal-marts around here have nothing but glass. A set of shocks would probably help too.

I have a similar Crossroads 5'ver in which I full-timed until two months ago. It continually impressed me with the quality and all of the little things that you don't expect to see in the mid-price range.

Recommend that you check out the Crossroads Owner's Forum at http://www.crossroadsrv.com/forum where you will find much good advice about these rigs.

Enjoy!

Thanks guys. I went ahead and got a few glass dishes. I don't need many as its just me. I have seen the crossroads forums but I haven't really spent any time there yet but thanks anyway, I will get on there and see what I can learn.

A couple nice things I noticed right away are the number of lights and outlets when comparing to my cousin's 5th wheel. This thing has three lights in the cargo area, one in each closet and even one in each of the entertainment center cabinets, switched on the wall! There are 110 outlets all over the place and they are placed well.

Yes I pulled for Classic. I think you may be the member I asked some questions before I got signed on. I only did it to get out from under some huge credit card debt (made worse to get into pulling) and by the end of this last June I had that nearly finished off so I called it quits. I really never did want to do that job but it was a way to make more money then what I had at home at the time. It was a great experience for me and I wouldn't trade it but I'm also glad to be rid of the stresses of the road. I also wanted to have a truck left when I was done. I didn't want to keep driving until I started having major items failing like engine/transmission. I don't know if I saw you or not. If I did I didn't know it but I did think about it now and then because I knew there was at least one TDR member with Classic. Oh the fun of winter driving. I hated that more then anything.

CumminsPower98,

Nice looking 5'ver and truck. I'm looking at a Terry 295 2RBS 5'ver to live in for a while in San Diego, until my family can join me this summer.

I noticed on your truck page that you have a set of BFG 33X12. 5X16. 5 ATs. I'm running the same setup. If you don't mind me asking, did you haul trailers with those tires or the other E rated set? If you did, how did the BFGs hold up? Squishy or pretty firm as long as they were pumped up to 50psi? I'd like to get the Terry (approx 1400#, dry pin wt. , 8000# dry wt. ), but hate to drop a bunch of money on new wheels and E rated tires right now. Would rather put the money in airbags and full gauges, if the tires would do the job getting it out to California. Thanks for the info. Enjoy the trailer.

Cheers,

Gunny

Thanks! I didn't use the 33" tires over the road. I bought a set of stock 2001 Dodge 8" alloy's and put Michelin LTX M/S E rated 265/75R16s on there. I was hauling some huge trailers (too big) and needed a strong tire. These tires really impressed me. I got 107k out of the first set. I put 87k on the next set but decided to let them go when I quite. Actually my very first set when I started was a cheap set of Triangle brand A/T imports that I got 60k out of. One of them finally broke a belt. Anyway I think you would be fine with the BFGs for what you are doing. I wouldn't run them OTR as they will wear out faster and probably are not the tire the Michelin is but they do have a pretty good weight rating so that shouldn't be a problem. Right now I have a set of 265/75R16 load range D BFG A/Ts on my 2001 Dodge alloy's. They handled this Crossroads just fine on the short 470 mile trip to pick it up. This trailer has a pin weight of about 1500 so its close to the same as what you are looking at. These smaller tires do have a higher air pressure rating of 65. I'm not a tire expert but if it were me I might be temped to put 60 in your 33s when you have the 5er on.

I have hauled fire wood on the 33x12. 5 BFGs. I just aired them up to 60 or 65 psi and they did fine for that but those were short trips of about 60 miles one way. I always put sides on the truck and stack the wood clear up above the cab and have a pickup box trailer on behind so there is some weight there. I have to nearly max out my air bags to keep it level, which is harder on this truck since I have a 2" leveling kit up front.

CumminsPower98,

Thanks for the reply. I guess if I do get the trailer, I'll see how the BFGs look with the weight and eventually save up my pennies for a set of take-off stock wheels and E rated tires.
