Tonneau cover for 5th wheel?

Tire???

All last week I had the 5er in front of the house, waxing etc. Hooked up to move it back to storage, as it came off the leveling blocks, I heard a loud popping sound. #ad

Immediately stopped and did a walk around. Left side OK, right side, not so OK. Rear tire, right side, hitting body work of trailer. I says to my self, "Self, this don't look so good". #ad

Look underneath, sure as there is white on rice, axle support broke!

Thanking our angels that it happened at home or at least at very low speed! Will post pix soon!

After much head scratching etc. Concluded that the manufacturer apparently decided that it was too much trouble to drill eight holes and put bolts and nuts to hold the axle perch to the box tubing mount.

Guess who gets to do that!

But, I'll still make it to Brandon's on Fri. night #ad

I hate to imagine how big the wreck would have been if it broke at speed!!

Reminds me of a joke. (God, I must be insane, here goes. )

Ernie and Vern apply for a job as team drivers. During Ernie's interview he's asked, "You're running uphill, two lane road uphill, RV is passing you on the left, opposing traffic has only one lane, RV passing another truck coming up hill from the other side. What do you do?

Ernie's answer?

"I'm gonna wake up Vern, 'cause he ain't never seen a wreck like this!"

Had a similar incident last year. Wife's vehicle transmission blew a line as we pulled into the driveway. Good thing it wasn't her and the kids out in town

We "lucked out" last year on Easter Sunday. The CV joint on the minivan transaxle broke in our driveway just as we got home. I was thankful it didn't happen on the two lane state highway "death road" we just turned off of.

Back in the early 70's I had just gotten off work (the 4-12 shift) and was coming back to town on the interstate. I had blown the cobbs out of my Duster at at least 120 mph. When I came into town I stopped by the bowling alley to see some friends and have a few beers. When I left I started the car, put it into drive, and started to move, went 1 foot and there was an big bang and the steering wheel almost broke my hand when it spun around about five times hard. I drove the car home (having to always correct the steering about 5 turns one way and then the other) and checked what may have happened the next morning. I found the lower part of the steering gear housing had blown out where the bearing rides (manual box). I thanked the Lord for that not happening at 120+ mph.
