I just heard on the radio that diesel topped $3.00/gallon in California!

Why do people stand in line to pay the car dealers thousands over sticker price to buy gas powered hybrids when a diesel VW gets better milage and performes like the gas version?



When will the world spin down and stop?

I just checked flyingj.com. The highest prices they list are $2. 78. 9, but that is definately scary.

fuel has been near $3 a gallon in quite a few places here in CA, but today I saw $3. 19 for self-serve #2 diesel at the Shell station at I80 and Rockville Rd in Fairfield, CA, in a major urban area with the Shell refinery only 17 miles away.



That particular Shell had been holding at $2. 99 for the past several months and jumped 20 cents over night.



The station I frequent in Dixon, CA went from $2. 59 to $2. 89 between Tuesday and today... ... .





Good thing I have the Mercedes for the daily 160 mile round trip commute to work and back

I heard on the news that there was a fire at one of the refineries(Chevron?) in California and would be down for a week.



It's averaging about $2. 40 here in CO.

At the station near my house, diesel jumped from $2. 69 to $2. 99 overnight.

I saw $3. 29 at the way over priced 76 station in Woodland Hills. $2. 89 at the Texaco across the street.

Well I just got done paying $2. 89 a gallon today at the shell station for diesel.

For years, snooty upper-crust liberals have been whining that "spoiled Americans" *should* be paying $5 a gallon or more for fuel just like the Europeans - looks like they will likely get their wish...



Of course, they totally overlook a completely different infrastructure and taxation difference between us and the Europeans - and it damn sure is NOT the POOR liberals advocating higher fuel prices - just the "let them eat cake" wealthier ones along the lines of Alec Baldwin, Barbra Streisand, et al...
