Losing a friend....

Tonight's "Smoke 'em" story... ...

My commute home from work is South on the I-405 from Bellevue, WA. The on ramp that I use to get to I-405 has a metered lane for solo's and an unmetered lane for HOV's. As my turn at the light came up, I checked to see if anybody was coming up in the car pool lane, as both lanes merge into a single lane about 100 yards out. There was a car about 150 yards back, so I proceed. As the lane meets up with the freeway, I merge in at the earliest opportunity. Well, the JERK that was coming up in the car pool lane waits until the very last second to merge over, which puts him between myself and the car in front of me.

The car in front of me wasn't letting him in (Bravo!) and neither was I. Until I noticed this car is a POS and he is just going to force his way over. I'm not getting a dent in my truck from this jerk. So, I reluctantly let him in. Conveniently, the lane to my left opens up, so I move over. As I do so, I notice that this guy's window is rolled down half way. :D :D :D :D :D :D

I accelerate a little bit, to get my exhaust tip right at his window. Then I stomp on the accelerator and just completely smoke this SOB!:D I must have timed it just right, as he moved into my lane behind me, telling me "You're #1!" I was smiling! Then, he moves into the lane to my left as he makes his way to the carpool lane on I-405. He tells me I'm #1 again, and I smile back!

I LOVE THIS TRUCK!

Scott,

Isn't it great to have the smoke advantage! I have used it on several occasions, and I love it. Always gets a smile out of me!

I have fun with the smoke, too... sometimes with joggers or bicyclists that impede traffic.

Just remember: Cars and guns don't mix! Be careful out there.

Touche', Scollins!!!:D I laughed so *amned loud when I read your post people started looking over at me like I was demented! Unfortunately, that doesn't happen enough on our highways and biways of this country. Keep your wheels spinnin' and, well, I'm sure you know the rest.

To be honest, I'd rather not have to smoke anybody! That would mean every body would be a courteous and mindful driver. Everybody's time is important, so I get REALLY irritated when somebody decides that their time is way more important than mine and does any of the following: frequent lane changes, cutting people off, using the car pool lane when they shouldn't, waiting until the last second to merge over, knowingly use a lane that is clearly ending soon just to jump ahead of others, I could go on forever! I know that my driving utopia will never exist, and thus SMOKE 'EM WHEN YOU HAVE TOO!

Geez Scott you just described my driving habits

If people would get out of the left lane than I wouldn't have to drive like that. I would like to mount my plow and push them out of the way, but I think that would be frowned on even more.

Darren,

I forgot to add that one to my pet peeve list! But you prove my point! If those LOSERS weren't in the left friggin' lane to begin with, you wouldn't have to drive like that! Those jerks are causing you to drive like that! Someday, I might have to give up, "fight fire with fire. " Or smoke in this case! I tend to drive 5 to 10 MPH over the posted speed limit, and I don't mind other drivers that do that also. What I don't like are those who drive 20+ MPH over the limit in HEAVY traffic conditions. You want to drive fast in the isolated areas? Go for it!

Your right, I usually try to wait it out, but then I just can't take it anymore and my right foot get heavy, and it's either I RAM (Pardon the pun) them or I drive around.....
