First off, let me say how good it is to be back in the good ol US of A! I just got back from a 7 month deployment on the USS Abraham Lincoln (the ship is stil out, I just had to come back because I am transfering) to the Gulf. Man I love this country. God has surely blessed us here, and you cant get an appreciation of that until you see how 98% of the rest of the world lives. Anyways... my question is how you mount the cb when you use the Brolin (I think thats his name) bracket. I installed the bracket about a year ago, but my brother stole my cb before I could get it put in. Now I have a new cb, and cant think how to install it. I just dont see how it fits. If anyone has pictures and description of how they mounted it, please send it so that I can see. I am moving back to God's country, Texas that is, here in about a week and want to have it in for the drive. The truck is a 01. 5 3/4 ton with 6 speed manual and 4 wheel drive. Please send any info, and thanks in advance.

Ylwlab,

Congrats on your new duty station and welcome home. Thank you for giving your all when Uncle Sam called. We are very proud of you and all the folks in uniform.

Your right. So many extras can drive a guy goofy trying to determine where to begin... . the same best advice that I was given... . GUAGES is a great beginning.

Good luck. :)

Yellowlab-

Glad you made it back! I'm in the USMC and currently in South Carolina. Looks like I'll be sittin this one out but that's good for the family. !

I took out the cubby hole in front of the shifter, cut a piece of 3/4 plywood to fit, drilled a couple of holes in teh support brackets that are back there, and mounted the wood. The Galaxy 959DX fits perfect and is at he right angle. I do not have any pictures yet.

Where in Texas???????

It would be nice to have more BOMBers in the San Antonio Area... Now since Kernel is deployed, there are 2 of us in SA... . kind of stinks... . Oh well, Thanks for serving!!

Moving Back To TX

Yellow Lab:

You're right about being blessed living in the US. I've been in the AF for over 26 years and have seen a lot all over the world. There is no place better than the living in and fighting for the US!

Charlan:

I'm moving from Andrews AFB, MD to Laughlin AFB (Del Rio), TX at the end of March. My wife is moving back to our house in San Antonio. I'll be coming to SA at least every other week end.

Much BOMBing going on in SA? Haven't lived there in 3 1/2 years and didn't have my Cummins back then either.

Sorry to change the post.

It's True!

All you need to do is to go to Mexico to see what so much of the rest of the world is like, BACKWARDS! Maybe upside down too:eek: I have not been there many times, however, I can appreciate how beautiful the US is by comparison.

Another fellow who happened to be an author impacted me with his story of the time he spend covering the Soviet conflict with the Afgans. He was there for about three years and he couldn't have been clearer with his point. He said that he was so irate at the college protesters who seem to have a higher level of contiousness available to them. They were demonstrating some earth shattering issue like the use of bleached toilet paper as opposed to the more natural brown version. The thing they didn't know is the rest of the third world is crapping in group use trenches completely without the benefit of ANY toilet paper. His point was these prodigys have no idea what the WORLD is like. They are products of tempered environments where servants are normal and money comes out of a faucet. With a clenched mouth he said that these protesters should be required to spend time overseas to get a new perspective. The would be quite humbled if they were to see the bowels of Bombay, or Rio De Janeiro for instance. He said that while those protesters cannot understand it, the United States is like heaven on earth compared to the years he spent in the desert with the Afgans.

Another example would be my neighbor who just returned home from a trip to India. He will NOT be taking any other trips from here on in. Even though he is a vegetarian he lost 25 pounds from dysentary. He only weighed 125 to begin with!!! He said everything over there is infected with some diasease. That includes leprosy which we never see here. Sewer runs in the streets, camel crap is everywhere, flys cover the childrens faces. For someone like him to return home and see people protesting this country, it just makes the blood boil!

The US of A is the best place to live on the planet. Don't knock it till you tried the alternative! There is a reason that five thousand mexicans risk their lives to enter the US illegally on a daily basis. Think about it! We need a college course called US appreciation I think:D

My thanks go out to all the folks serving in the service now, in the past, and in the future. God speed. God Bless The USA!Oo. Oo.

rnolen- Semper Fi right back atcha!

HVAC- I hear what you're saying about your buddies loosing weight and what not from being sick. I went to Thailand about 6 years ago, and NO it wasn't Pattya Beach for all you libo hounds (you know who you are). We were up in the north east along the border living out on the ground (the fun stuff). A couple of buds and myself got really sick so we went to talk to the doc. He said we had, and I quote "just a mild touch of malaria"... good times. Turned out they passed out malaria pills 2 weeks BEFORE we left but since we were last minute augments we never received those pills... again I say, good times. It was very humbling to see how they live though. The same with Korea, Indonesia and the middle east. I didn't always enjoy my time there but I really appreciate it now that I'm back.

navy 5 years

i was in the navy for 5 yrs, most of that time was with the marines, they call me DOC. and i am here to tell you we live in the best place on earth.

This is my first post and would like to thank all of our people in uniform. I was a gruntin Viet Nam in 67. People do not realize how good we have it here.

With just under 9 years Air Force in Europe (Spain and Southern Italy) out of my 20, I really came to appreciate our wonderful country.

One more thing - I want to start another hyphenated-American title. We have Asian-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, African-Americans, Muslim-Americans, Jewish-Americans, etc, etc, etc.

I'm proud to admit that I'm a

United States-American.

I agree with wcaldwell. Especially here in NM we see alot of this stuff. I am just a good old redblooded american and that is it. I want to take a point and honor the men and women serving right now. This is such a trivial subject, whether you agree with the war or not, we need to thank those that are serving because they love this great country.

As a current active duty mbr of the USCG (18 yrs) and on behalf of all the men and women in uniform... ... we say THANK YOU for your support. We do not want war anymore than the next person... but will do what the CIC orders. -SEMPER PARATUS

But until then... we got some BOMBin' of our own to do! :D

Rattle On AMERICA!!!
