Have done two fairly long weekend trips in very different conditions and thought I'd share the experience with the Ecodiesel. Labor day weekend I drove from Fairbanks, Ak to Seward, Ak for a fishing trip. The wife's 2020 1500 Ecodiesel was chosen over my 2019 3500 mainly due to the added comfort on a lengthy drive. The conditions were typical early fall for Alaska with temps ranging from just below freezing to low 60s. Road conditions were what I consider to be excellent with the only traffic congestion being around the Anchorage vicinity. Mileage for the total trip was 28.4. Most of my highway cruising was around 70, sometimes more, sometimes less. This included some minor mountain passes and alot of hills so I feel it was an excellent result.

This weekend was a bit different. I went to Tazlina, Ak on Friday to help some friends pull their fishwheel from the Copper river. It began snowing steadily as I left town and was warm and greasy. Only the day before my wife had a new set of Blizzaks installed in preparation for winter. I clicked it into 4x4 and left it there for the duration of the trip. There was very little accumulation on my way down but that all changed for the return trip. Most of the road had 2-4 inches of snow and for about 35 miles I pushed snow with the front bumper. The little truck still returned 23.1 mpg for the entire trip. It was extremely comfortable, handled like a sports car and only had to fill it up once when I got back to town. Here are a few pics that I took. I better get it washed before somebody sees it!

Unfortunately these pictures were taken with a potato! We had to take the fish wheel down the river a couple hundred yards then do a partial disassembly and haul it to camp in two pieces. Went pretty well even with it dumping snow.

Impressive! Thanks for the real world report!

Wish we could get snow. Terribly dry here. Once my ED is miled out I’ll have to check out the newer ones.

I spent most of this weekend driving around in a 2010 Ram 1500 with the 4.7 V8. What a difference 10 years makes! The 2010 is by no means a bad truck, actually it's really comfortable. The main difference I noticed was the amount of road noise over the 2020.
