I made an offer to the salesman from whom I bought my '05. See signature below.
The 05 has 15,500 miles. I've been driving a 2006 SRW 3500 Big Horn dealer demo for a week while mine is in the shop. It has the G56. It has 6K miles. I offered a direct swap- no $ increase on my payments, no extra time added to the loan term. Essentially a direct swap. The '05 had the 7/70 which the '06 does not. I doubt they will accept, but with fuel prices headed up there is a longshot chance they might. The only concern I have is the unproven realiability of the G56.
This all came about when I was just looking at the new ones when I dropped mine off for service when the old saying came up: "What will it take to get you in a new truck. " Hence the offer I made as stated above. If in fact they accept, would I be nuts to not go through?
Positives: Newer truck, less miles, nicer ammenities.
Negative: No 7/70, G56 transmission.
