Here are the details:

2001 CTD, 5spd, 4x4, reg cab, longbed, gooseneck hitch, 115,000 miles, good tires, alum wheels. Was layed over on the drivers side, then some lady hit the back end.

I haven't looked at it yet (friday evening I will). I know the truck since new and it has been taken care of!

My question - If I get it and determine it isn't fixable, can I get my $$ back by parting it out??

Any ideas on what the main parts are going for - engine, trans, transfer case, axles, etc??

Thanks!

Dan

If you are able to take it apart to sell everything yourself, JUMP ON IT!!! You can get that or more out of the motor alone!!!

If you would have to pay someone to take it apart for you it might not be worth it unless you plan to sell the whole truck at a profit. Some of the guys who do conversions would probably buy it as is for a small profit.

See if you can find out if it was running when it was on it's side and how long. It don't take long to ruin the crank and bearings on it's side. I polished on a Cat crank for 2 hours on a K. W. that had been flopped. The guy didn't want to spend the money on pulling the engine and a new crank. I put it together and it's still running 2 years later  ... Doug

Yup!

You can get your money back. The rear axle is worth around $1350, xnsfer case is worth 500, 5-speed is worth $1000.

I agree

especially if you "know" the truck. I'd JUMP on it. In fact, if you don't for whatever reason, I or probably some other TDR member would pay you a "finders fee" to get a deal like that. Email me directly if you are still undecided.

Id go for it,if you need to part it out i always like to keep things complete. I wouldnt tear into the engine or transmission for anything. Sell it complete,if you sell the head, the short block will get ruined from sitting exposed, and there is hardly any market for a used short block, whereas a complete running engine is worth much more. I bet the front axle is worth as much as the rear,if not more, and the engine has to be worth 3000 easy complete
