Only it's setting code p1693. What's this mean and how serious is it?

The truck's a 2000 5 speed, slt 3. 55's ,4x4 ,NO #53 block, new lp and injecton pump. 193,000 miles, $11,000. Should I do it?

TIA.

Joe

I just recently learned that the 1693 is a companion code for the real problem. You're not done reading codes until the odometer comes back up. There should be an additional code after the 1693. Check it out. Then you'll know if it's serious or not.

193,000 miles

WOW

To get the real codes you need a scanner or a local AutoZone P1693 is just telling you there is a code set ... may not be a big deal maybe one... . test drive it to autozone and see what it is.

Thats Pretty Cheap

If code is nothing big I think you should Do it.

You can do the key thing on a 2000 which is what I'm looking at.

After p1693 the odo came back up. I'll take it to Autozone and hae them read though.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If they're asking $11k try them for $10k. I purchased my truck about 6 months ago for $13k. '01 2500 HO 6spd QC 2wd 3. 55 145k miles. I think I got a sweet deal. Hope it works out for you.

I got it. they were asking 12,500 and I got them down a grand and she's in the driveway.

The code was a p0121 i think thats TPS sensor?

Anyway I got 2 trucks now and they look happy together :-laf

congrats! i keep hoping for another Cummins truck to keep my current truck company... trying to convince the wife that she NEEDS a truck. she loves the view from mine, but daily driving and parking have her concerned.
