Man, I stopped by the dealer today to get a free oil change and there were a couple of second gen trucks being worked on too. I sure do miss the ol' rattlin' Ram sometimes. The majority of the time I have enough rattle and the extra turbo whine helps to make up for it, but every once in a while it would be nice to flip a switch and make my 3rd gen rattle.

I would love to have a 12 valve for when I want to get noisy and smokey. That would be the best of both worlds to me.

I miss the music my 99 made. My new truck just don't sound like It should. My 99 was just as good If not better them my 2004. I have not had the 04 under a heavy load yet. The 99 was a work horse. It was music to my ears.

Maybe I can talk the wife into letting me get a '94 with 200k to hot-rod. That would satisfy my need for clatter and smoke :-laf

Cut the key way lock off of the female portion of the fuel pressure sensor and then plug the male onto it backwards.

Guaranteed to have enough rattle to fill your soul for a while!

Was that a good  or a bad  ?

If it was a good  , tell me more.

I know what you mean, there are a couple of new Dodge 2500 CTD trucks where my son plays soccer. Several times they have passed by while I was siting in the car waiting for practice to end, and I did not hear them. It is odd, because the older trucks and even the new Ford PS trucks make so much racket that you can here them from a great distance. I really like the tock, tock, tock of the 12V's, it is addictive. When you pull up to a stop, there is no doubt that a Cummins diesel is present, every body has to turn and look to see what is making all that noise. I am sure their are many benefits to the quiet new diesel engines, and many new to the diesel world owners appreciate the silence. But for me the clanging and banging old 12V is like an old favorite rock-n-roll tune, It makes you fell good every time you hear it.

Just curious, why have you gone to such efforts to install all the insulation and sound deadening material in your truck if you like the sound so much? I looked at your reader rig pictures, the cab work alone looks like a massive project.

WHAT! WHAT! I can't hear you.

:-laf Bertram65 stop it your killing me.

By the way I miss the rattle also, need a switch to turn on an off the rattle. Off at the drive thru's at the burger joints. Why could'nt it had been 50% quite a nice even number, instead of 84%. :-laf

missing clatter

I sure do miss the clatter from my '01 but I think that my '03 sounds good enough when I get on it and is reasonably quiet the rest of the time. so I am happy.
