I have a 95 5spd 4x4. Does some one know what kinda valve to use on the vacuum line. So that the front axle does not lock in 4 wheel low.

Right now I have a clamp pinching the vac line. I thought some one here in the club sold a kit for this? Don't remember who it was?

Reason for 2 wheel low is so I don't ride the clutch backing my 33' 5th wheel flat bed.

Jeff H. I see you are attending SCTC. I am assuming that is South Central Technical College in Mankato, is that right? I did my Paramedic there. If you want a 12volt controlled valve for it I have one I would sell ya. You would just need to track down the hoses and barbs, all of which you can get at just about any hardware store. I can also e-mail you all the instructions for hooking it up. This would give you the same kit that Pacbrake sells. I have it on mine and it works great. Let me know if you are interested.

St. Cloud huh. I rode with the Gold Cross Ambulance for several shifts up there. Nice guys.

It says you have private messaging blocked. The valve I have normally sells for about 65-70 This one is a few years old but still works fine last time I checked, that was a couple of months ago. I'd send it off to you for $40 and that would include shipping it. you can e-mail me if you are interested.

I picked up a 12 volt valve / solonoid at NAPA. I had mine installed using a 12 Volt normally closed valve requiring the control switch (lighted when on) to be closed when front axle was disengaged in 4w drive. John Holmes wrote an article a few years ago in the TDR on this. I don't think I paid over $20 for the valve.

I loved this feature when I pulled my fiver in slow freeway traffic. Sure saved the clutch and through out bearing. It also helps when backing the fiver up hill.

I would like to point out a few things about turning off the vacuum to the whole system. First, the actuator for the front axle disconnect is a double acting, it need vacuum to engage and vacuum to disengage the front axle. By turning of the vacuum to the entire system it is possible to have the front axle partially engaged, even though the dash 4WD light is out. Second, the vacuum must be turned off BEFORE you shift into 4WD. It is also important that the valve be set up as a 3-way valve so that it vents off the vacuum downstream from the valve or the trapped vacuum will partially move the CAD. I do not want to "flame" this system, if the person understand its limitations it will work without doing damage to the vehicle. What my kit does is add a manual valve (more reliable than an electric solenoid valve) that allows the driver to engage-disengage the front axle any time the transfer case is in 4WD, even while moving.

I need a part for 2 wheel Low Range

Go to Bob V... ... I put his unit on my '99 3500. It works so slick, you will love it. Oo. I use it often when I am backing my fiver into its storage or onto the slab beside my house... . the manual switch works very easily and is positive. :D

question 2003

Is there anyway to make this work on a 2003. I am a hot shot puller and is always needing to have low range but cannot do like I did my Ford. any info is appreciated. Does the front axle still activated by vacuum?

Thanks,

Scott
