I've spent many-a-hour searching the threads for something that may help me find out this info, but to no avail I haven't.

I'm putting a 99 24V engine/transmission/t-case into a 73 Ford F-250 4x4 and have a whole donor truck. I've removed the entire wiring harness from the dash-board, and intend on using it along with the one off the engine coupled with the PCM and on-board computer.

And, by the way, I inadvertently ended up with a 53 bock truck. #@$%! No crack, as I'm testing it now with 20 psi air and it's holding!! I'm just going to enjoy my new powered truck when I'm done! :D

Now, on to my question: Will I be able to use this harness without the instrument cluster? Also, what I want to do is wire the idiot lights (water in fuel, CEL, wait to start, etc... ) that's in the cluster by making my own homeade "light tree". Do these lights come on with 12 volt power by making contact from a sensor or switch? Or, do these lights work in conjunction with the instrument panel?

Bottom line is that when I removed the instrument cluster I saw a whole bunch of electronics and then became unsure if it's as easy as just wiring up a simple light to the wire coming from the sensor.

Any help is greatly appreciated .

try the cummins conversion forum but the short answer is no not that easy but it is possible, maybe a painless wiring harness is in your future

Your absolute next step is to buy the FACTORY Manual for the Donor Truck. By doing that, you will have all the information you need to complete the swap in the way of wiring diagrams for the engine. This will give you the info you will need in the way of what you will need and what you will not need. It's about $100 but then how big a headache do you want to suffer without it;)

Food for thought;)

And once you get the repair manual, figure out how to resurrect that Dodge, so you can flush that F#rd down the crapper! :-laf

Thanks guys! :D

I've read that the best manual to get are the ones that Geno's sells. Can anyone confirm that for me?

Flush my Hi-Boy... . yea, right

I have to laugh and agree with you at the same time because I had one of those miserable F250 Furds.

That's where I got my manual from. Best manual I have for any vehicle. Wiring diagrams cover alot of information real well.

Try Howell Electronics in Michigan. I used them to co-phase two harness systems together & reprogram the ECM and PCM when I swapped a '95 Corvette LT-4 into my '92 Chevy Z-71 4X4. I bought the factory service manuals for both, but the more I studied, the more confused I became. Howell saved me a lot of head scratchin'!!!
