I have 60,000 on my 01 and i think i need some new shocks. I need some advice on some good shocks. What shocks work for you guys and where did you buy them from? Ohh and how much???

BILSTIENS!!!!!!!

They run just over $50. 00 each, well worth it. The ones on my 98 with 60,000 on them felt better then the brand new stock ones on my 2002 with 4000 miles on them!

I hear Offroadwarehouse.com sells them with a TDR discount if you call them and tell them your from TDR.

Rancho 9000's from Sams Offroad. They are buy 3 get one free, and unlike the Bilsteins if you don't like the ride with the load you have on you can change the adjustments. Running at max gross weight today and dead empty tomorrow the Ranchos will adjust to suit it, the non-adjustable shocks will not. In other words the fixed shocks are a compromise at any weight or useage other than exactly what they were valved for at the factory.

I am dead positive the Bilsteins are a world better than OEM, but they are still a compromise IMO. Tuning the Rancho to suit MY wants and needs is a real treat.

Well I must say that I cannot support the fame of the Bilsteins... I am sure many on here are very happy with tehirs and I am glad but I have a set on my truck and cannot wait to trade them up for some Rancho 9000's. I changed my stock ones out at 101k on my truck and you know what; the truck does not ride any different, yes it has a little better rebound controll but it still rides like a rock on wheels. I have driven several other local mebers trucks which are the same as mine as far as chais and all and they all have Rancho's and there is just no comparison in ride. JMHO not bashing them as I think they are probably the best built for longevity just don't rode all that well.

RANCHO 9000 SHOCKS

HELLO ALL...

I have a set of RANCHO 9000's on my 98 2500 4x4,,, and the front shock doesn't work any more,,(dead),,, no matter where the knob is.

MY WARRANTY says they will take back/replace. . but with out RECEIPT the will not!!??,,,I THOUGHT A warranty is WARRANTY??,,,,,,,what to they THINK,,,"I MADE THEM OR SOME THING"

The place that I got them is no longer around...

RANCHO SAYS NO WAY... ... .....

Mike In Maine...

Psssst!... . Any one have a BILL OF SALE that they're NOT USING!!??:D

I have 4 in a box that are shot also that were given to me but same deal no reciept no go like you said it is amazing I guess they think we all have the ability to create our own shocks... So that makes 2 of us anyone with a purcahse reciept for 4 I need a scanned copy I am in CA... . I am not impressed with the bilsteins and would like to get the ranchos replaced so I could go with them.

RANCHO 9000 SHOCKS

I'm GLAD,,(in away),, to hear some one else is NOT REAL happy with the RANCHO SERVICE... ... ... .

I would like to think we (TDR) should get SOME HELP. . as we have from OTHER companies that WE will ENDORSE if we are HAPPY CAMPERS... :{

I have had Les Schwab's RMX shocks on my pickup for about three months now. The ride is a little firm but there is NO wallow or bounce what-so-ever. It corners better than it did with seventeen miles on it and I have loaded it down pretty heavy and they still perform. They are a monotube like a Bilstein but I believe they are valved a little different. The price was about forty apiece.

Hope this helps.

PS my local Les Schwab took my uncles Ranchos back with no problem and he didn't have a reciept. That is a bummer that they wont honor a "lifetime" warranty on a shock that they primarily use because in five years (just a random number) you happen to have cleaned out your glove box once or twice and threw the wrong piece of paper away.

Maybe Geno's or somebody will step up and start distributing them so we can have someone that we would like to see get the profit instead of some two-bit tire shop that dont give a darn about their customers.

Sorry for the rant.

Take care

Rancho 9000x's

The RS 9000's are nice, like others said you can adjust the ride. Very reliable and work great off road. As far as getting them replaced, I had one bad shock years ago and took it to a local 4x4 shop and they replaced it no problem. I guess also it depends where you live and how you aproach them. Also if it is warranty issues you are worried about, in getting a replacement, just check out the company you are buying from and see how long they have been and are going to be around ( i. e. Jackit, Summit etc), I asked both these places when I purchased shocks that if I had a problem would they repalce them and they said yes with no problem. Any way IMO rancho's. good luck... . :D

Well for me it was Rancho's corporate office that told me to take a hike so I don't know how much more direct you can get...

I love Bilstein! However, I use the Rancho 9000's on my truck since I occasionally carry a 4000+ lbs. slide-in camper and felt that it was necessary to have an adjustable shock (incab of course). I have returned Bilsteins for replacements without receipts for full replacements--every 150k whether they need it or not. The way I received my Rancho's was a disgrace. I had to rebuild the compressor, reassemble one of the gauges, all included decals were totally wadded up and useless to anyone that wanted to advertise for them (Rancho did send me replacements), two shocks were dented, and very poor quality paint was used throughout. They do, however, perform when loaded.

rancho 9000

I have the rancho 9000x and so far there great, last week with the fifth wheel in tow and rear shocks set to a one the concrete road was hopping the combo, pulled over dialed up a 5 on the rear ,bounce curred,I couldn't believe the difference it made. Before the 9000's I had the edelbrock shocks and they were way to stiff when empty on the highway. I can't comment on the warranty as mine have worked fine. buy what you like they all have a few problems. Tim
