... in my driver's seat. About a year ago, I did the added foam repair advised here, but I just noticed that the actual formed foam bottom has split, causing the new foam to slide in. The resulting canyon has me doing a serious "gangsta lean" toward the center.

I've had zero luck looking for a replacement. Haunted the internet in search for a week; no joy. The junk yard seats I've looked at are pretty rough; seems the foam in these seats doesn't weather very well. The dealer will sell me the entire lower assembly for almost $500. There's gotta be a better way!

My pelvis is screwed-and-glued together from an old accident, and it just ain't happy with the current situation!

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks, Tim...

... but I did that repair a while back. The current failure is in the shaped foam that makes up the formed seat bottom. The foam has split from front-to-back, six inches in from the right side--almost all the way down. It looks like someone took an electric knife and cut it in two! I don't think there's any way around replacing the shaped foam piece. Thanks for weighing in, though.

Re: Thanks, Tim...

Check out an auto upholstery shop. I have seen some of them do amazing things to older cars, maybe they got a trick or 2 up there sleeve for new trucks.

Well...

TowPro, you may just have the best idea left. I am now looking for an upholstery shop that has the skill necessary to do this.

One other thing I found that I would like to share: Sonny's Truck Seats, located in the mid-west (http://www.sonnystruckseats.com/dodge_seats.html), finds good-condition take-offs, tears them down, rebuilds the springs and foam, covers with factory covers purchased from trim shops that have replaced new cloth with leather. He charges $795+ shipping, and he's got 'em ready to ship.

A little steep for me if I can find an alternative, but that ain't bad for the whole front seat assembly... especially when the dealer price for one new foam and cover runs from $475 to $1000! Guess they want you to trade!

One thing Sonny's told me was the the split I have in my seat foam is very common on these trucks--it occurs in the channel between the seat bottom and the bolster. At least I've got company!

Thanks for the help.
