Is there a company that makes ladder bars or whatever for our truck to help with traction for the drags.

Please help.

Okay, you probably want to know who :D

Fabritech

Try to contact fellow member, Davidvt, I saw he had ladder bars listed in his sig. he might be able to direct you to a good supllier for them

Check out enterprise engine, they are stocking the bars that Steve StLaurent had designed. They are expensive, but darn nice looking and very effective. I think there is a link to EE in the links section.

Slapper Bars

There is an outfit in SoCal called Calvert Racing, or something to that effect. We need to look up what they have for us.

HVAC,

Will that system work on our trucks if the axle is mounted on the bottom of the springs?

I don't think so.

Hope I am wrong.

Keep in mind that "Ladder Bars" or any other traction aiding device will create a bind in the suspension during articulation. there is no perfect solution, but there are better options then ladder bars.

We at Performance Unlimited have developed a Traction Aiding Device that can be used for Drag Race, Street, or Mud Bogs that works very well, and has the least amount of bind of any traction device. Please contact me for more info about this item.

This TAD is not cheap, nor is it meant to be a hobbiest installation, but if you are looking for the ultimate, you need this.

I'm going to work on loooking at options over winter so I'll be ready next spring.

So interested in this topic... ... . thinking bout trying RoadMaster Active Suspension and if I don't like it... . giving it to a friend here in town.

Mr. Brooks

What is the price and where do I find more info about TAD?

thank you and everyone else.

Performance Unlimited?

RBrooks,

I have a friend in your neck of the woods that would be very interested in seeing what you have to offer. Please email me with instructions as to how to contact you.

Gary, I still hold out hope that the Caltracs can be bolted to the bottom of the axle. I'll persue this tomorrow.

Traction

Hi Gary,

I and several others in my neck of the woods have the Rancho traction bars on our rigs. They made a 110% improvement. If you would like more info e-mail me -- email address removed -- . Sam

I have the St. Laurent Ladder Bars. They work great. They DO NOT cause binding due to their well engineered design.

Contact Enterprise, or Steve St. Laurent (he is a post moderator).

I have seen Steve's bars in person and ridden in his truck. The bars truly work. The other difference they will make that I have not seen listed is that they make the truck ride a TON better. It feels more solid and connected. I do not have the power to need them for traction, but I will be adding a set just for the ride improvements. By the way, mine and Steve's trucks are virtually identical down to the tires and shocks, so I am making an accurate comparison. Shoot Steve an email, he offroads quite a bit so if there was a problem with articulation binding he would know about it and tell you if it existed.

There is no way to eliminate ALL bind with any sort of traction device. All that we can do is to minimize the bind. There are some very nice designs available that do a nice job, and depending on your usage there may be more then one choice. The drag race trucks do not need much articulation, so a traditional ladder bar could work fine, however the more versatile you want your truck, the better the traction device you need.

The TAD that we offer through Performance Unlimited is a Chromoly steel device that has brackets that will be welded to the axle housing, one each side of the cast iron center section. This device then meets in the middle of the truck, above the driveshaft. A crossmember will be added or modified depending on the individual trucks needs. With a single mount point, articulation bind is minimized. The first prototype is installed on a (gasp!) Ford F250, with a 500+ cid gasser, used as a mud bogger. This device made huge changes in the way the truck responds upon acceleration. The TAD weighs approx 42 lbs, depending on application, and the cost is $900-$1000 installed. This unit is custom built for each vehicle to maximize the efficiency.
