:D HAHAHA :D

I new that would get your attention. :-laf

I've got some isues with my truck in the fact that it's only getting 14mpg :{ any suggestions.

I would say you should get a powerstroke if you want to further you skills with a wrench, cuz you'd spend a hell of a lot more time working on the thing then driving it.

As far as mileage concerns, I'd say your mods have just a little bit to do with that. Also, blended fuel has fewer BTUs than regular no. 2, so that will hurt. I guess that depends where you live. Other than that, check things like filters, etc.

I don't see any reason to not buy a Powerstroke. I mean, since Ford owns Cummings, the Powerstroke engines and Cummings engines are probably closely related.

That's what you get for your thread title! :D

I'm not feeling a whole lot of love here.....

O. K. so mabey it wasn't a very good title, but at least I'm getting some feedback. I thought with the air going over and under it that my truck would be more aerodynamic. I replace the filters every 6,000miles (air, fuel, oil) and I usually don't go over 20# of boost, unless I'm at a light or going up a hill or passing someone or showing off or just watching my ***** SORRY I HAD TO TWEAK THIS ONE ON YA SLIM -Pastor Bob- kind of ironic ain't it ;)... ... . (I hope she doesn't read this). I was thinking mabey the injectors because when I started to use fuel treatment it went from 10 to 14 and it doesn't matter how light I am on the throttle I always get the same?

I didn't see in your sig that you have 35s, but if'n you don't correct for them your mileage will be way off. Hand calc on mine with 35s is 14 or 15mpg uncorrected, but with 235/85s (stock) I get 18mpg. They say air flowing under your vehicle is terrible for economy/aerodynamics. That is why economy goes down at a steady rate for each inch you raise your truck. Large tires are also heavier and harder to turn than smaller ones. Your sig says pump tweaks, but what kind. If you have real agressive low boost fueling, that could kill your mileage too. I dunno, just typing to see myself think.

Travis. .

I do compensate for the tire size(37's replaced by 33's as the wife was getting tired) and as far as the pump mods I think all I have left is the gov. spring (this weekend) and no smoke unless I really punch it and light the tires up.

I have a '92 that's pretty much stock except for a 4" lift. Tires are BF Goodrich 235/85 R16's (they came with these size tires from the factory). I only get 14 or 15 MPG empty. Mine is a dually with a five speed, but that shouldn't make a drastic difference. My last first gen was a '90 and I could only get 16 MPG from that one in stock form. Some of these guys that post MPG's of 20+ must be driving down hill alot.

The thing is, it wasn't lifted when I bought it... The milage was the same before the lift went in. I could see a lift creating slightly more drag, but not enough to create a significant change in the MPG's. In my case, with a four inch lift there was no noticable decrease in fuel consumption.

Everyone and his brother know's that V-8 engines are better than a six. More power cuz they gots more pistons. You'd be a fool to think otherwise, right? Who cares about longgevity..... and "servicability" The (dumbed down) American public wants V-8 power.

FORD! does not own cummins. Why do so many people think this, anyway my wifes van has it's first problem, It needs ball joints @ 79k not bad for the powerstroke ah. with all the bad things i hear about the powerstroke on this site figured i have alot more problems. I guess the powerstroke site says all that stuff about our cummins too.

it's pretty flat down here :p . really though mine was consitently 20-21 mpg before i advanced the pump timing, now it haven't gone over 18. 5 in the last two tanks. i would think between tires, lift and mods 16 would be really good. .

powerstrokes and cummins both use the same oil so how different can they be

I don't know what you guys are doing, but I've got a stock pump, stock timing, stock injectors, stock turbo, pretty much stock everything and I never get better than 14 or 15. If I'm missing something, please let me know. Fuel in NY is pretty costly and I would LOVE to get 19 or 20 MPG. I know driving style has alot to do with it but my foot is not THAT heavy. Besides that, I run empty 90% of the time.

I think you should sell it to me,as I really want a crew cab. :)

In my totally unscientific tests making round trips up to Denver quite a bit. I can pick up almost 5 (yes FIVE) mpg simply by setting the cruise at 65, instead of running 75-85mph on the interstate. Takes me a little longer and I hate bein passed up so much, but it saves me $$$!!!!

Slim... just drive downhill and coast a lot..... that's what I do... how's that for love? :-laf

Seriously, slowing to 65 and slow accelerations will get you better mileage... glad I said that because I nearly forgot how to do that. I can get 24/25 mpg if I drive with a light foot, but normally I get 22 doing 70/75 mph with approx 75% driving on expressway, and in the NW hills of Ct (which aren't all that high unless you are from Ohio :-laf ).

Also remember that winter fuel will rob about 2 mpg

it seems that the autos are worse than 5-spds for mileage. wife only gets about 18 average (with her driving, don't know where it would go with me :D ). i've got two extra wheels and slight mods and i got 20-21 before timing change. the convertor seems really loose and the trans short shifts and i think thats what keeping her mileage down (the trucks are the same other than the trans and my rh foot)

that being said, you guys getting 10-14, i have no idea. look at what affects mileage. driving conditions, weight, quality of fuel, driver input, etc. . might verify method of checking mileage (not saying you dont know what you're doing but speedo error, tire size, etc will affect your readings). no reason that i can see for mileage to be that low.
