I had II build my pump into a Dragon Fly, and built me dual feed Dragon Flow injectors, I also done a compound setup with my HTB2-62 (Wasted at 25psi) and an II S400, Also installed an Air Dog and its running about 32psi, Timing is 17. ? to 18*. This thing smokes like a pig, No bottom end, High EGTs and only getting about 55psi boost. It pulled way harder before and would break the tires loose in second and wont do that anymore. II first told me to try more timing but I have not had a warm Fuzzy answer on what Timing should be, I sure dont want to blow it up but as much money as I have sunk into this thing Its gotta run way better then this or Im gonna sell off everything and Put a Power Stroke in there. WTH is wrong with this thing?

Sounds to me like your pump and injectors are pushing way too much fuel and you're putting out the fire, even with the air your twins are pushing.

I don't know what II does to build a pump like yours but I'd try to cut back on fueling as much as you can by moving or changing the plate, adjust the AFC, or whatever you can to see if it cleans things up.

Also sounds like the twins need dialed in more to get more boost sooner. Any head porting or cam to help? Bear in mind the bigger and more radical parts you throw together the more tuning and setup you have to do to make it come together and have reasonable driving habits. A little more timing may help, try 20-21 degrees. This kind of setup needs higher RPM to get to the sweet spot, probably won't come alive below ~1500-1700 and you may have to feather into it gently below 18-1900 RPM to keep from smoking to death and putting out the fire. . . may require retraining the right foot.

I'm not familiar with dragon flow pumps & injectors but sounds like to me it's more on the competition end of the spectrum and won't make much of a daily driver.

What air filter system are you running? You are going to need to to better one if running stock.

Exhaust system? You are going to need to open it up.

Im to the point now that I think the injectors are just too big. I am gonna put something else in there and give it a try.

Mule, There is nothing Stock on this rig.

I just pulled a couple injectors out and looked them over, I never seen That many or that big of holes in a nozzle, I think there is 10 holes and I can stick the head of a pick in them, Seems like they are way to big. I am going to try and get a picture of them and post it up.

you've got monster injectors and pump and a mild set of twins... a silver bullet on top of an S480 would be a little more appropriate for that kind of fuel.

give it some more timing, pull some fuel out of it, and tighten the gate on the top turbo a little. also you might want to perform the elementry boost leak checks and such before you get too deep into changing expensive parts

how did you land on that pump and those monster injectors with such mild twins?

Well I am new to P-Pump Modding, I was listening to a guy at II and thats how I ended up where I am. He is no longer with them and I have a bunch of expensive stuff thats not working. So Now I am trying to work with another guy there and he says I need 24* of timing, Some internet guys freaked and said Oh no, So, I am confused. I had DDP stage IV injectors before these 5x22s and It just didnt have as much Power as I think it should have so Thats when the 5x22s came into play. I cannot afford to go with different Turbos now. I am thinking I need some 5x18s. Even with the Valet switch on I think it runs like crap, Has no power and Smokes like a coal train.

For what its worth, DDP4s are good for 1000hp.

Personally I think your injector choice is to big.

DDP4s are a 5x. 014 anything bigger than that is going to be smokey on the street and is intended for drag racing and pulling.

24° of timing is OK assuming you have head studs and the head (or block) is O-ringed, two things you need to have if you are going to operate at this level.

The Block is O-ringed and It has ARP studs.

I would like to know what all has to be done to get 1000hp with the DDP4s, I was told they were not that great but again I am new to 12V P-Pump Modding, I can do anything with a 7. 3 Power Stroke but the 12V Is Foreign to me. I Was intending this truck to Pull, Race and Daily drive with a Valet switch. Maybe that is too much to ask, I dont know.

yeah, it sounded like your combo was commission driven :(

I ran some 5 x 16 dragon flows on my 98 and really liked them. they were a little smokey on bottom, but very drivable and gave a nice power bump over the DDP4's

but really, that pump and some DDP4's would probably do what you want... the 5x22's was an irresponsible/greedy recomendation IMO :(

Ok, So if I send these back and have the nozzles changed what should I go with? They supposedly modded my DDP4s by burning a second passage way and then the huge nozzles. If I go with a 16 or 18 nozzle will the injector still work or do I just need to buy totally new jectors somewhere else??

they can hone custom injectors to suit your needs, but they are like 1200. give em a call about what you have now and see what they have to say as im curious to the reply as well.

Well I was told numerous times that these were 5x22 but they have 10 holes, I found out they are Super Dragon Flows and no way they will work on the street. So, They are building me some 5x18s and hopfully I can get this thing back on the road.
