I got mail today from an unknown address. (to me)

It said something like "enclosed is an attachment. I need your advice on this. "

I deleted it right away. Actually, I was sent this same thing two times!

Be careful. You dont know what it could be!

I have gotten that one, and also the HAHAHASnowWhite and the dwarfs one... I delete them immediately.

The TDR gets them, too. Ken has posted about it. I don't know why people feel the need to do this... maybe someone can explain it.

I've received a few really suspicious things lately and deleted them. Then I check the trash folder. Some of them are NOT there!!! Every legitimate e-mail that I delete goes to the trash folder. Some really odd ones don't. ????

HAHAHA SnowWhite

I got that email the other day Rob Hanson. It must be going around somehow, because a friend of mine had it sent to him about two months ago.

I haven't seen anything like the "sircam" on my computer as of yet.

I had updated my definitions on my Norton program and a choke worm virus got through. Luckily I was able to revert my Hard Drive back to before I got the virus with my GoBack program.

After that I found a very good Virus program that auto updates and does much more. It's called AVG 6. 0. Best part it's FREE!! I like it much better than Norton and it's caught 3 virus's in my E-mail and warned me about them even before I even opened Outlook Express and I've only had it about a month. I've got it set to do an auto scan at 2am every night.

You should try this program.

It's funny I got the same! Haven't deleted it yet but will be gone!

Boy isn't TDR worth a million!

:)

Sircam is out there. From the timing that you all are talking about, I would say that you may have deleted an attempt to get you. Spent the better part of last week getting it off customer's computers. It's no fun.

Hmmm, guess I just ASSumed it would be a guy... but I have a few ideas... :D :D

WOWZY... thanks for posting the link... I downloaded it last night, and already ran it twice! Pretty easy to use.

The news just reported that Microsoft and several other software companies are warning about the "Red Worm" virus.

Microsoft has made protection for the virus, but is concerned because no one is downloading it.

Do you guys think it's a ploy, to get us to install more Microsoft stuff? Or should I be downloading from their site for the added protection?

Sircam Virus

Was sent the same email at home on tuesday morning, unfortunately curiosity got me and I opened it. Of course the IT guy at work sent a warning about it afterwards. It did make a bit of a mess of my computer, it changes some of the dos file names, it can also do various other nasty things depending on what software and in some cases hardware is in your computer. It seem to like Microsoft Outlook, fortunately I use Eudora and it was unable spread itself. Norton Anti-virus did not find it initialy, but did after updating the virus definitions that day. Norton Anti-virus is not able to remove it on it's own, it will recomend quarantining the infected files, this was a bad move:eek:, as one of these files is needed to run application programs. I ended up having to reboot with the start up disk, didn't lose any files, it just took some time to reload all the other software.

Now for the good news, Symantec has an Sircam information page and program that can be downloaded to remove the virus.

Hope this helps

THANKS WOWZY!!

Installed it today! Easily installed and I feel better as I never subscribed to the Norton updates and was way behind in the new gotchas.

The Red Worm virus is for real!!

This new AVG Anti-Virus program intercepted it last week before a PopUp site could execute it. It scared the hell out of me when this big red screen came up while I was surfing and it identified it as Red Worm *** and it blocked the incoming data. It asked me if I would like to block all info coming in from that source and of course, I chose yes.

I love this AVG program!! And love how it auto updates the latest defs.

It kicks butt!!

Anyone let it auto scan through your system yet?

I have about 18Gig used up on 50Gig of HD space and it only took 12 minutes to complete the scan. The first scan that it did after downloading and installing it, it found the Choke Worm virus on my "D" HD, isolated it, removed it and repaired the damaged files to 100%. My Norton program was asleep like Asa on the Andy Griffith Show.

Norton Anti-Virus is a flippin' joke!

I do encourage all to use the AVG 6. 0.
