My old trusty 93' finally had to be de- commissioned few years ago due to rust and a few hundred other small things. Was sad to see her go after 17+ years and almost 600,000 miles. I swear that thing has been over every pass in the rocky mountains between Canada and Mexico. I got so used to it that the thought of a newer, better, more improved truck(?) was difficult to imagine. So I said to hell with it and just searched around for almost 2 years to find a suitable replacement for my purposes. Which is going to the woods because I log and work around the farm. FINALLY , let me emphasize that... I found what I think could make a good truck with some tender loving care. Here she is:
The good is that there is no rust because mostly I think shortly after new the entire undercarriage was coated with a thick layer of Wyoming mud which perfectly protected it against further corrosion. First thing I did when it arrived at my shop was steam clean it off and it's just amazing how there is no corrosion on anything. It's also just about all stock and the motor seems really strong and is clean. The "bad" is a long list of things beginning with the transmission is slipping/screwed up... the thing is, the young guy who previously owned it had it rebuilt less than 200 miles ago but for some reason it is crapping out.
Good is that I have a donor truck with most parts including even the interior matches color. Major parts swap about to occur. I'm planning on making this into a nice tight truck again. I like bumping around in these old trucks it kinda grows on you.
Here is my old dead truck which I miss...
