cant find anything about beltdriven on this forum

You can get them... You must have additional oil lines to lube the unit, No Problem their , ports on the filter head for this... Then the air lines and air dyer Plus Tank. . Your Mileage will suffer, its allot of work and is generally use for commercial use. You will have $2k into it before you are done.

I looked into this myself, for the cost and work involved I am opting for installing a 20lb CO2 tank horzontial in the bottom of my tool box. From friends experience with a 10lb this should suffice to run a ton of stuff for a good while. Only draw back is having to refill it but with no moving parts etc. . I think it's a better option.

Kilby sells a nice kit but it is expensive; I think they sell for $1500 or so on their web site.

I had a compressor (York 210) and made my own tank and bought all the fittings/hoses locally. I saved about 500 bucks w/doing this as I bought only the things that I needed from Kilby - mounting brackets, alternator pulley, belts and a few other gadgets.

The only thing I see that you'd have to get from Kilby is the pulley (both for alternator and compressor). Other than that, if you're handy and have time, you can build the rest.

I'm handy, just didn't have the time.

Bendix use to make a totally self contained belt drive unit that was installed on gas motors in 2 ton trucks with air brakes in the 70's and 80's. It had it's own oil and was air cooled.

I have a Kilby and love it. It was expensive ( I got it on sale) I installed it at the same time as my new engine. Shadrach

How much have you used that Shadrach? Has it been pretty reliable? I've got some good 12volt compressors, but that just looks like it'd work great. I do like my 12v as I don't have to have the engine running to use it... ... just don't leave it on for a few weeks... .

I'm not Schadrach, but I'll tell you that when I'm busy with my business, it's a daily used item. I had a hard time at first justifying the expense but I have no regrets at all. Just like my Espar!! Love them both!

It was overkill at first, ( probably still is ) with only an exhaust brake requiring air, but I plan on using it for tires and an air horn :) as well. It came with a 2. 5 gal air tank. When I haul my TT I set my rear tires to 75-80 psi. When we go for a day trip I drop the pressure to 50 or so to make the truck ride better. With the Kilby I can just pump them back up anytime I want to. There are some good 12 volt air comp out there and it does mean I have an old ball belt ( I carry a new spare ) but I tend to go overkill at times. BTW I got it on sale for " only" $1050 USD. Don't tell my wife :-laf.

It came with "good quality " rubber air line but I upgrades the line from the comp to the filter and from there to the tank with stainless covered nylon Aeroquip. It is the same stuff big trucks use and takes the heat a lot better. I still have to mount remote the air chucks at the front and rear of the truck. Shadrach
