I'm thinking the best thing to do is find an auto truck... and perform some level of parts swapping.

Opinions/suggestions?

There is a '94 47RH +transfer case for sale locally - what's the possibility of installing? (I figure the electronics end of things is the nightmare)

Anybody want to trade? (Kidding)

I have a 98 w/ an automatic an would like nothing more than a 5600. Ill trade w/ you. Its a six speed right?

The grass is always greener on the other side. I am selling my auto 3500. I thought I wanted one too, I was wrong.

If you are determined to do it, ATS sells a stand-alone kit to do the swap with all the electronics.

Ok, so let's elaborate: Why do you guys want the 56?

I want out of it b/c a built auto will be quicker/faster. Basically, it feels like I am shifting the thing ALL the time. I do have 3. 55s though, I wonder if 4. 10s would be better- do like the 70mph cruise at 2. 1-2. 2krpm though.

I'd rather not regret getting rid of this...

I tow and I prefer to tow with a manual. I like my 01 and I have a really well built transmission and converter, but you'd probably want billet shafts with your power adders. I think it is just personal preference. The auto is fun for running around town, but I like the control of a manual with a load.

Thats why i have both----love my 2001 sixer for towing/highway when i drive but its a pig in the city stop/go driving. Older i get the less work i want to do, this time went with a 2007 Mega "auto"DRW---i can tow with this one as well ------BUT the MRS can now drive/tow(she does not like a manual) too while we cruise the highway with the 11k fiver. DW

I dont tow anymore and to many left knee operations I may be looking down this road of swapping in the next year. what would a nv5600 go for if I did sell it. has 160k on it now. anyone with a est.

I'm not sure what it would be worth. I bought a whole wrecked truck with just over 100k on it. It's the same year as mine, but it's a 2 wheel drive. I took all the parts I needed to do the swap and I am hoping to find a 4x4 5600. I'm really not opposed to putting a 4500 in it, it's just whatever I run across first for the right money.

I'd like to have a manual transmission b/c it just feels better than an auto, it makes ya feel like you r actually controlling the vehicle. It would also be good for getting better mileage and what not. These 47re and rh's are real slush boxes in stock form.
