Assuming that the threads will match, truck stops carry a wide array of bends and extensions for the shift lever. Maybe you could reposition the knob without bending.

I took my shifter out of the top of the transmission and stuck it in a vise, heated and bent it a little to 'tweak' it where I wanted it. Worked great.

Can anyone tell me if the gear shifter is solid rod or a pipe? I would like to drill a hole for my future pac brake switch. I am hoping to hide the wire inside of it, if possible.

I marked mine so I would know its direction when tight, removed, cold bent in a bender about 4" toward the driver. It is tubing. You could heat it and bend it if you want, shouldn't take very much heat as I think the tubing is fairly thin wall.

so if you took a tubing bender, you could just tweek the shifter a little bit with it still bolted in place maybe then eh? hmm... :D:D

It's so easy to unscrew, I'd hate to risk doing something to the trans.

One caution-- Don't bend it so much that it doesn't have room to screw back on. (I guess you could remove the tower, and re-instal with the shifter attached)

I finally got around to bending mine tonite. No heat, just clamped in the pipe jaws of my vise and leaned on it a bit. I'm guessing I got it almost 3" closer to me (left and back) as it made close to a 6" circle as I screwed it back on.

I think I'm really going to like this.
