Going Walbro...

Oh My GAWD, Oo.

Just had a new DTT Trans & converter installed by Andy Sebek in PA. Picked up the truck last last night. Andy, put in a new TST #10 Plate, adjust the AFC Springs, replaced a few missing bolts, adjusted the valves and created my new truck.

After I left his shop I jumped on the turnpike and opened her up a little on the entrance ramp, she flew up the ramp and i had to slow her down, I was already at 70MPH before hitting the active lanes. Went further down the turnpike and came upon the toll booths. Just passed the booths, I look around and there is now one beside me, I open her up. After being slammed into the seat as if being catapulted, I regain composer and hold on. I didn't even feel her shift, It was just pure power to the ground and rapid acceleration. :D

I now have the truck I always read about here on the boards. WOW, I can't believe it but I can't wait to put in new delivery valves and injectors. Maybe these bombs will create rocket engine acceleration. .

IN all, I can not thank enough Andy and the folks at DTT. Incredible customer service and products.

I don't think I have ever seen a kid at Christmas smile like you did last night after driving that truck. :-laf

I am glad to hear you are happy with the truck. That trans you had in that truck was one of the worst slipping trans I have ever driven.

Well, I hope you enjoy the truck and look me up when its ready for that 1000 mile checkup and adjustment and we'll sit down and talk about future mods.

A little off-topic, but I noticed you had a #6, and you've changed to a #10. What difference would that make in fueling/power and EGT?

If you ever lose that feeling of excitement or the newness just wears off just take a stock truck for a spin, then hop back in yours and you'll be all :) again. I actually did that this week with me borrowing a buddies 05 for a day.

I started with a #10 (stock position at the time). Plate is full forward now, plus everything else in my sig. Can't peel the grin off my face when I'm driving. :D Oo. Oo.

The converter upgrade I did years ago was one of the biggest accelleration improvements I made to the truck. Welcome to the club!

I so much miss driving my 01 with the DTT setup just a world of power from idle compared to my 05, soon though soon the 05 will be rebirthed with at least a DTT TC and VB... .

I have to be envious of your DTT for only four more days. James Northum is giving mine a DTT overhaul with billet everyting I could get.

I'm looking to do my trans. soon. What converter are you running?? My truck is an '01 that weighs about 8,000lbs running empty; I tow about 10,000 when I tow. Power upgrades should put me about 425HP or so. What do you folks recommend??

Thanks!

Make sure you go with a full transmission from a specific vendor. This thread is about DTT. So, I would start and stop there. Oh wait, I did!

DTT will set up a "profile" sheet on your truck and make recommendations with your honest responses. You have the ability to yweak that somewhat, but listen to those guys, they really know what they are doing.

If you are running an exhaust brake, you may want to consider DTTs Smart Controller. This will give you lockup to help get that weight stopped. Also, if you are doing the e-brake, get a billet input shaft ata bare minimum.

If the newness of an upgrade wheres off, then that means you must upgrade something else, maybe turbo, NOS, propane, water/meth!! :D

Couldn't help but chime in:

Just got back from Abbotsford (early Nov. ). Bill, Stefan and Darin (sp?) are the best. I too, had a 'heat treated' (severely discolored and slipping like a madman) TC when they pulled the OEM. Sounds like we got it rebuilt in the knick of time.

Couldn't be happier w/ getting the power to the ground. Just need more of it to put down! Need to push the #8 ALL the forward and call Lenny about some EDMs. :D Starting to get a feel for 'drifting' on the wet streets of Portland. Pretty fun. ;)

So, how much bombing does one do before it pencils out to swap in a genuine 215 pump? Turbo first?

TIA,

HvyD

Hey, . 44mag we have the same truck . I did a little research awile back i called DTT and they recemended to take it to J&H Performance in Redding. I don,t have enough cash right now for new transmission so now power mods for me  Oh congrats on the new trany and have fun for us have nots :D . Brian

J & H Performance are the guys that will be doing the work on my rig. They are great guys and really seem to know their stuff. I found their shop about a year ago when I was in Redding on a job. I'm real particular about who works on my stuff ( usually nobody but me ); but, they run a tight shop and do it right.

My trans. is just starting to give me troubles. I know that the stock trans. is a weak point on these trucks. I'd rather spend the money right the first time and let them built me a trans. that will last. Also, I'm going to have them modify it to work with an exhaust brake :-laf .

I just picked up the truck tonight. My new Dtt took my MPG from 16. 7 to 20. 1 on the HWY. I only used 1/4 tank, so I'm not ready to hand manually calculate the real increase. WOW... it's a different truck. I haven't needed to turn on the smart controller yet. I can get a second gear scratch without really trying. Keep in mind that I run 35s with 3. 73 gears.

Your post brings back memories of the past, I can not forget the fat grin on my face the first drive with the new trany (ATS) and converter. You sound like you did it right, replacing the whole package and not piece-milling it. Any one of the top three(3) transmission companies advertised in the TDR will get the job done. Power adders are fine, but with an automatic you will never experience the true benefit without up-grading the transmission, as you can now see. It's a shame Dodge continues to offer such a LAME transmission with their CTD's. Good luck with your new trany, and watch the speed.

J & H Performance

I had my DTT installed by Joel at J & H. He really knows these trannies. I have about 15k on mine now w/o any complaints.

J & H and Full Throttle Performance put on a dyno and drag race in sept. 04. My truck dyno'd at 245 and another 94 3/4 4x4 dyno'd at 248. I had a DTT and the other guy still had the stock 47rh. We drag raced and I killed him by 8 mph and about a full second. He even launched in 4 wheel drive to my 2wd peg leg. The DTT made all the difference. Once I hit second he was in full view in my rear view mirror.

DTT= :D
