Competition I won my first try at sled pulling!

This was my first ever attempt at sled pulling. I ran in the Heavy weight 4X4 class. (Anything over 6200 LBS) Including all diesel and v10 powered pickups and anything with dual wheels,and no free weights unless secured in the box. This class was the only one that uses Percentage of weight pulled versus distance. I weighed in at 7495 Lbs with me and 3/4 tank of fuel,and a well stocked tool box in the bed. I pulled 203. 4% of my weight at 16000 lbs. And even though it didn't count in this class it was a full pull also. Running Yokahama Geolander at II 265 75/16, front 30psi rear 45 psi. it was a good hard pulling track Vetrans called it a good horsepower track. The sled Company was Full Pull Inc. from Mandan ND. I ran low range in drive o/d off. There was no lack of power and not too much tire which is what got most people on this track. I was the only puller out of 40 or so to squeel my tires on the dirt as the sled stopped me.

I did my first pull a couple of weeks ago. Sure is fun!

I did 2 hooks and got 212 and 210 feet. I don't know how the sled was setup because I don't know hardly anything about sledpulling. Who know's? I may be learning more soon!

I won my 2nd pull last night. I weighed in at 7600 this time (Full tank). and pulled 213. 6% at 16,200 Way past full pull mark before sled stopped me. Tires were smoking at the end of the pull (Track was like concrete). No pictures this time my wife videoed it and will work on trying to get a video downloaded for it. What is a good link to use to put videoes on web with. Will be my first try at putting video on. So be patient with me.

Holy smokes, I thought I would be the only one that did not understand this... .....



Are they going by the % of weight pulled compaired to the weight of your truck?



Are you pulling it further then everybody else in the class?

Is class standings for % the same as if they went by feet, or is it drastically differnt?

Yes you are correct in thinking that % compared to weight of truck. The Heavy weight class here is the only class to use percent versus distance like all other classes. Distance doesn't count here. You pull until the sled stops you. The sled has a scale to tell how much weight has transfered to skid.



My pickup weighed in at 7600lbs,I pulled 16,200 lbs that equals 213. 6% of my pickups weight.

Around here there are not enough diesel pickups running in pulling circuit to justify a class for them yet so they lump everything over 6200lbs and everything with a diesel or V10 or dual wheels into the 4X4 heavyweight class :{ . I would need to head to eastern ND and Minn ,Wis, to get into some diesel only classes Or other classes that will accept diesels. Like the Red River Valley pullers assoc.

% pulls are fairly common with antique tractors. Never heard of it with trucks before, though.
