I wreck my Truck but their is an issue.

Ok this morning on the way to work i come to an intersecion that i have come to a hundred times. As i come up to the light it turns yellow with no time to stop (and it raining making it slippery) i decided to go thru the light. As i proceed a mini van pulls out in front of me making a left i hit the brakes but i clipped her in the A$$. The cop gets their and takes our statements so forth so on. I get in the car with the officer and he tells me that he is going to most likly sight both of us. So right now i am a little cuz she pulled out in front of me. Ok so now if ne one has a front bumper, passenger fender, light and inner fender let me know cuz now i have to fix the beast. I think i need to save up for a big bumper.

just pissed of that i might get sighted.

Tstetsen, Sorry to hear about your truck, just glad everyone is OK, we can fix the truck, mainly it just hurts the pride.

Go down to the Police Station today and get the Police report Changed. Make sure it reflects your story, and then fight it.

what do you mean when you say get the police report changed?

what would i change on it? let me know that would be great.

If she was at fault, make sure the Police report reflects that in the statement the cop took, you get to see what she said when the cop interviewed her, and he'll also do a sketch of what happened..... Make sure it is all correct if not have them change it.

On the report see what the Primary Collision Factor is listed as. (what caused the crash) If the other Driver is listed as causing the crash it looks better for you, even if your actions are listed as a Contributing factor. (unsafe speed for conditions) See if your insurance will fix it.

i'll check and see what is says. I am almost positive that insurance will cover it. I got a quote at lunch 3,200. I really dont want to pay that out of pocket. O i got one for you when i left my dad talk to the cop even the cop siad their was nothing else i could have done! That still makes me wonder.

Darren, is right about going down to the station to make sure the report is right. Most times the cops won't make determination of whose fault it is on the spot because the people involved are already upset, don't want to start any bullets flying. Think the law is that you have to be all the way across the interchange before the light turns red. Sounds like the van jumped the gun.

Good news her insurance is paying for my truck. They even told me if i need a truck they could get me one. So all is looking good. Still dont know if she got sighted.

I believe here in NJ when a light is yellow, it's "considered red".

Even though the soccer van ran the light, you'd still get a ticket here. Guess it's a revenue generator thing... .....

Living in Western Oregon where the winters tend to be rainy and wet Id have to say you made the right choice. You probably could have tried to stop but then ended up in the middle of the intersection. If the other partys insurance is paying then they have investigated and determined they are at fault. Oregon has a law that says you can turn onto a oneway street after coming to a stop even though the light is red. But if you get hit or hit someone you are at fault. Glad to hear it worked out for you.
