I pulled the IAT this weekend. The highest reading was 15K ohms. This was just out of the freezer. At room temperature it is pretty close to Marco's and Alan's figures. Can the IAT be off at colder temps and more normal at higher temps? Think I will replace it anyway but would like to know what effect it would have.

This is a Marco question for sure but I think you will get less fuel (if my brain is working right) when it's cold because the engine thinks it's hot. One thing that you may want to do is to fill a plastic cup with ice, put the sensor on top of the ice and then measure the resistance. If you pull it out of the freezer and then measure, you will be reading more of an ambient temperature like probably 70 or 80 degrees depending on where you are. These things react very quickly to temperature.

At 32°F it should read 30k to 36K ohm

At 77°F 9k to 11k

At 122°F 3k to 4K

At 167°F 1350 to 1500 ohm

at 212°F 600 to 675 ohm

These are the numbers from Marco's earlier post

Alan, thanks, I'll try it your way.

Just an O-ring. My sensor was not tight when I went to remove it. A spark plug socket works best but I used a 22 mm (the first time) and reinstalled with the spark plug socket. Also, a 6 inch extension makes life easy. The spark plug socket worked best because I could use a 3/8 drive with it. The best way to get leverage was knees on the bumper left arm on the valve cover. Otherwise your wrists are twisted the wrong way to put leverage on the thing.

Like Alan said, I used a 13/16 spark plug socket with a 6" extension. Also, the FSM says 10 ft lb. Its not tight at all. Put a drop of oil on the O ring.
