Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) IAT Sensor wires

I want to clean the sensor, since I use my jake brake alot

It might be a dumb question but I dont want to break anything :{



How does the wire come off? Do you just pull? is there a clasp that holds it on I can really only get one hand back there. Without TDR I would just pull but im gona let my annual TDR dues spare me another fustration.

Yes there is a clasp you have to lift and pull at the same time. You may have to crawl under the truck to get a better idea of the attachment. I have had to remove the plug from under the truck.

Thanks Dave I pulled the wire off properly cleaned the sensor and put it back. What about the map sensor do those have to be cleaned to?

I have never had the map sensor out. Do not really recall anyone trying to clean one as it is more of a pressure sensor. I just use the obd-2 software on a laptop to check the operation of the map and various other operations. The software keeps me from throwing money at suspect components. If you can swing it I highly recommend it. You can save files and play back at a later time also.
