It gets black and dirty and needs to be cleaned as I understand it to keep the engin a peak efficiency. What would happen if I moved it up to the intake tube above the heaters or put it at the output of the turbo. Less cleaning I think but would I gain anything in performance or mileage???:) Inquiring minds are curious. Thanks for taking time to read this.
 
I also installed mine in the air-horn, but didn't notice any +/- in fuel mileage, I do know that it stays clean now! FWIW

I would be the last person to claim to be an expert in the Tech world of high performace diesel.



However . . . .



Last week I had my vehicle serviced by Cummins Northwest in Renton, Washington and inquired about cleaning the IAT. The response was to leave it alone. It is a very fragile component. The service techs said to replace it rather than clean it. Just my $. 02.
