The Power of Gravity

A friend of mine winters up in a little village called Zama Lake, up in the NW corner of Alberta. He works on a oil drill rig up there. The only way to get to the rig is when it's frozen and drive the rigs over the frozen lakes and rivers. He has his summers off and makes good $$ for a guy who barely finished HS. Typical day, the ambient temps are -50F

The company I was with the last 6 years builds some of the roads and maintains them. Once they are in we haul *** till breakup in the spring hauling fuel, food, lumber and heavy equip. The most interesting thing to haul out yet was a dc-3 on a stepdeck. We had to pull the wings and put the landing gear into a cradle to carry the front. The tailwheel just sat on the deck. We were 28hrs on a road nowider than the gear and slid down backwards in the night a few times. Once we got the good road I punched the criuse @ 75 for the 10hr ride to our yard. You should have seen the looks our convoy got. Never a dull moment in the north all you need is a tiger torch and a dozen weiners for a 10 sec dinner on the trail. [quicker than a microwave]

Where do I sign up?

I've seen the special on the history channel a number of times, and I'm still fascinated each time I watch it.

Drive safe
