Icom 2100H Transceiver

Need a new Fire/EMS/Public Service radio for my truck. I have a chance to purchase a brand new Icom 2100H. I think it is last year's model. Any suggestions? I usually have purchased Kenwoods or Motorolas. How does it compare to the Kenwood 780 series?

FYI the Icom 2100H is a ham radio and it's technically illegal to transmit with it outside the ham frequencies. With that said, it's a good radio.



If I were you, I'd look a buying a used radio that isn't a ham.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll just go back to the Kenwood. I figures when I could get the Icom for several hundred dollars cheaper something was up.
