Test Post

Whenever I post a new topic, the icon to the extreme left does not portray a "new post" icon but rather defaults to a camera type icon. I do not see an area when posting that lets me choose the correct icon. If I cannot choose one, why does it then default to a camera as if I am attaching an image?

EDIT: re- the icon to the left of the question mark in this post. Also- what is the down arrow that appears? I do not want to mis lead members as to the content of my post my these icons?

What you are calling a camera is a closed envelope with a dot on it. The closed envelope means that there are no new posts in the thread since the last time you visited, if it was open there would be new posts. The envelope also closes after you visit the thread, which you do right after posting it. The dot (camera lens!) means that you have a post in that thread, which of course you would if you started the thread.

The arrow is there to click on if you want to go to the first new post since you last logged on, I'm not sure what causes it to be there or not, maybe if there are new posts since your last post. There is also an arrow on the far right of the thread title that will take you to the last post in the thread if clicked.
