I got to redo my battery cable clamps. I have the main positive terminal on the driver side that is rusty and will not tighten any more. Does anyone have any good ideas to redo that without getting to involved in replacing the whole cable or does the cable need to be replaced?

New OEM cables are pretty spendy but you might get a decent price on aftermarket custom cables, do a search for more info. If you go with custom cables have the cables terminated with ring terminals then use military terminals on the battery. That way, if the battery terminal needs to be replaced again you can do it without replacing the cables.

When my terminals wouldn't tighten anymore I took a hack saw and cut a 1/8 inch gap where the ends of the clamp come together. In regards to the rust, just get another bolt, clean the corrosion off the terminal/post, then lube everything up real good.

There was another post about this here somewhere not long ago. Many posters said they had NAPA put ring terms on their stock cables and then went with a high quality marine type terminal as mentioned above. I went down to my local NAPA and checked into it and they will do this for very little money, it will be a future path for me, that is for sure.

Thanks for the help. I'll check out napa here and see what they can do. It is frustrating when you go out to try to start and everything seems dead when I know theres no way it could be dead.
