Can someone please tell me how identify which rear end model I have. My tech manual shows 4 rearends. I have the tech manuals that you can order from the back of the owner's manual. Starting with a 9 1/4 inch and moving to something like 486 RBI. I have read all the exterior tags and all interior stampings. Nothing seems to lead me anywhere. I just changed the lube in the tail so I looked especially close for anything. I am not asking about my ring gear size, I know I have a 3. 54. I also know it is locking differential. I am more interested in finding out what DC calls my rear end so I can reference the right section of my tech manual.

DC gave me the wrong rear oil too. I got 75W90. I told them I had t 3/4 ton with a Dana 80. Tech manual says to use 80W-140 synthetic if you tow. I guess they thought I only take it to go get groceries.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply... I know I have a Dana 80. DC calls them something else in the tech manuals. the are XXX RBI. I want to know what the XXX is for my truck. There are several flavors of Dana 80 depending on what options you opted for when you ordered it.
