I am not sure what it is called, but my Idle adjustment rod snapped in the center. Appeared to be from usual wear and tear---the break was rusty with exception of one little section of bright metal.

This is the rod on 1997 12 valve Cummins Engine. It is located between the injector pump and I am guessing the fuel pump or fuel shut off. The broken rod is about 10 inches long, and threaded left at one end and threaded right at the other end.

Would anyone here know the Cummins or Dodge part number????

Unfortunately, we are fifty miles from the nearest civilization. I did not find any information that I could use in the Geno's/Dodge 1997 Service Manual, the 2010 TDR Buyer's Guide, or in the Search function here.

Your assistance will be a big help. A rope is filling in, but a source of amusement to my rancher friends.

Idle Adjustment Rod--I found the data!!!!

I found the part numbers, when I changed my search terms.

Going to order the parts! THANKS

Make sure the new parts are assembled to the same length as the old one. Idle adjustment is made at the stop screw on the rear of the pump and not by that rod.

A rope is filling in, but ...

What's wrong with the rope?? :-laf

Brings back memories! Years ago paying my way through college driving bus for them, I was shuttling a bowling class across town in this BlueBird prototype bus equipped with the 5. 9BTA under the hood beside me when the throttle cable broke as I pulled away from a red light. As we idled out into the busy intersection, I unsnapped the cover over the engine and the coach helped me lift it off into the isle of the bus and I "limped it home" reaching in and operating self-same lever by hand! (arm was jjuusstt long enough to peak one eye over the dash!)

Sometime ya gotta do whatcha gotta do!!

Ugh. I need a #6 and possibly 19 off that diagram. Mine fell off cruising down the freeway. It's zip-tied together right now, but some day I need to order new bits.
