i see that a quite a few of you guys use some kind of pole on the fuel pedal when starting cold to bring up engine temps before driving. what is the pole and how long should it be to make my truck idle at around 1300 rpms to get warm

The "pole" everyone talks about is any old stick, snow brush of sorts and it is what ever length works. Just put one end on the go pedal and take the other end and wedge it inbetween the 60-40 split seats or up against the seat and use the power seat control(if you had one ) to adjust it to put pressure on the pedal and set what ever RPM you want. I prefer an electric idle system, I have an old choke solinoid off a gasser and heve it against the throttle levers when activated.
