I'm sure there must be an idle speed adjustment stop but can't see or feel it. My idle speed has droped to about 500rpm and causes the oil press to go low enough to cause the check engine lite to come on. Also causes the engine to vibrate do to the low rpm. Were is the idle speed adjustment???? Thanks in advance

Idle speed adjustment

The idle speed adjustment is hard to get to. It is on the rear of the injection pump (throttle control lever). It is a vertical screw. Just follow the throttle linkage back to the control lever. I have never adjusted it so I don't know the mechanics of how to do it. There is a locknut and it helps to have someone to "mash" the go pedal when you adjust the screw (engine off, of course).

search under "engine stalling",Iposted a question about my truck stalling and one guy wrote back and sent a diagram of how to raise the idle speed . it was a good descriptive picture

It's a tough one to see. Get up on top of the engine and look down at the back of the pump. Helps to hold half throttle or more to expose it. (at idle the linkage sits on the head of the bolt)

It's a 10mm wrench if I remember right.

Just a little tip on adjusting it. Put a screwdriver in the linkage at the end where the cables attach so that the throttle is held off of idle. That relieves pressure on the idle adjustment screw so it turns easy. Loosen the lock nut with a 10mm wrench and you may be able to turn the screw with your fingers. If not, use the 10mm wrench to turn it.

Oh year, almost forgot. There are two small screws that attach the linkage lever to the pump lever. Make sure these are tight with a 8mm wrench.
