I assume that the truck is a 12 valve since it's in this forum. The speed should be at about 850 with the A/C on. The adjustment is a bit of a pain, but very doable. It's a 10mm bolt facing up with a 10mm lock nut on it at the back of the pump It may be easier to see if you work the "throttle" lever. I feel for it instead of look for it. Took me a few tries. Someone here has a picture the can post, Illflem I think. Hope this helps, and welcome.

By the way, a signature helps us see what you have as far as truck and mods for future help.

To find the adjustment screw, reach down near the rear of the pump. Find the throttle spring. Then feel along futher back until you find a nut on a screw. Loosen the nut with a 10mm wrench. You can adjust the idle with your fingers if you relieve the pressure against the screw by working the throttle linkage near the front of the pump with your left hand.
