It appears that the bearing on my idler pulley is starting to give up the ghost!

When looking for a replacement, I have noticed that many are made of a composite plastic in place of metal. I've been told that the composts don't create the heat that the metal ones do??

Has anyone replaced theirs with a composite?? Is it holding up ??

I'm always concerned when I start replacing metal with plastic.

My OEM one is plastic on my 01. 5 (100K on it). The replacement that I got for the tool box is also plastic.

I replaced the original on the 99 I had, it was plastic as was the replacement. The bearings seemed to be still good but it was whistling. bg
