I called my dealer today regarding the idler pulley and serpentine belt. My pulley bearing went bad on Sunday and needs replaced. I had the exhaust brake added to my 2006 and the parts counter is not sure if the exhaust brake package changed the size of the idler pulley or not. They also can not tell me which size belt that I need. I really do not want to do this by trail and error, so if anyone knows the correct part number that I need, I would appreciate your help. I did not install the exhaust brake as I got the dealer to install it for free. The parts counter says that they only keep the accessory books for a few years and then they throw them out. Thanks for the help. It is for a 2006 2500.

Assuming that your truck has A/C the following is accurate...

Belt Part Number is...

53041270AA Mopar

3947077 Cummins

I cannot cross the numbers into Gates or Dayco so you are stuck with Dodge or Cummins. Geno's has stock in case you can't find anything local.

The idler pulley does not change.

I have attached the Jake Parts Manual for you, print and save it.

Provide me with your trucks vin and I will give you the Cummins part number for the idler, it will be about 30% cheaper from Cummins.

replaced the belt and idler pulley but the vacuum pump for the exhaust brake is make a horrible noise as well. has anyone had problems with your pumps going bad? I got 95000 miles on the truck and the exhaust brake was put on shortly after purchase.

The pumps do go bad. Genos garage has the best price one them. As recommended by other members, I add a tsp. of motor oil to the vac pump at every oil change. Remove the vac line and add the oil there.
